Absolutely amazing story. Couldn't put the book down.

Wow, great insight into WWII - I can vision some of what my own grandfather went through. Hillenbrand used the perfect amount of description to entice and not bore.

I don't usually read nonfiction, but I enjoyed this true story. The experiences in a Japanese POW camp are pretty horrific. It's hard to believe this guy survived; so many of his fellow soldiers didn't.
Although, I do not normally read Non-Fiction, Unbroken was a wonderful exception. The incredible story of Louis Zamperini is almost too insane to be true. The things that this man endured in World War 2 really put your life in perspective and make you grateful for today. From being forced to survive in the middle of an ocean from a plane crash to being captured by brutal Japanese soldiers and being tortured in POW camps, Hillenbrand delivers a story of hope that will touch many as it did for me.

This was one of those books that I just couldn't put down. When this was voted in as a book club read I was kind of bummed. There are just SO MANY books about WWII that I was not excited about reading another one, but I'm so glad I read this one. It was such a heart-wrenching and compelling story that I was completely enthralled, and I'm not really big on war stories.
