Picked up this book to continue where season 2 of the donghua finished off. Great stuff! Loved to learn more about Xie Lian’s past, it really created some depth in his character and I enjoyed seeing how much he’s changed over the years. I found the shift from the tomb scene into this very long flashback a bit jarring + made it hard to follow/be interested in at first. But I stuck with it and it was a great way to learn even more about Feng Xin and Mu Qing going into the third book :)

At first I liked this volume more than the first one, but then I got to the last 50 pages... It just got slightly, not necessarily boring, but less interesting.
I did like the rest of this volume tho! Can't wait to read the rest of this series and see where there relationship leads us!

I really liked that we got to see into xie lian's past in the second arc

especially after having met Qi Rong and also seeing xie lian's attitudes before his first ascension.

As usual there are lots of eccentric characters with twisted backgrounds that seem to come up everywhere....
