I like this book. I have little to zero economic knowledge and the book gave a good and thorough introduction of some important aspects of the (global) economy, what drives inequality, and how it could be fixed. And it helped me understand our current world a bit better.

OK - my hubby has been bugging me to read this for several years. Finally gave in and listened to all 25 HOURS (!) of it as an audiobook, which actually worked amazingly well for a book full of graphs. Still not exactly my kind of thing, and definitely could have used an editor (although I have to admit it was super comprehensive, and maybe the thoroughness was what made the audiobook work?). BUT....really important topics about income inequality, wealth inequality, and persuasive ideas about the drivers and potential (if utopian) solutions; I learned a LOT.

The books is very well written and has an in-depth analysis of capital and wealth of the past centuries. The proposed political actions are a bit weak in their development and analysis.

I never write reviews but I figure I should because I actually read through the whole thing. I got my copy from a public library that was getting rid of it, which probably says a lot. The data presented here are really thorough, and inform interesting historical analysis and macro insights, but I felt underwhelmed by the policy prescriptions.

Amazing points, foundational research, boring as hell. Reading was a battle
