This was a gossipy inside peek into J. Crew from its first days until just before the pandemic hit that kept my attention the whole time. It really felt like reading a novel with plenty of plot twists and a wild cast of eccentric characters. Loved this one and think about it every time I walk into J. Crew.
Really enjoyed the way this nonfiction book was written. Surprising how well something like this war fascinating to read about especially with no skin in the game and no history of consumerism. That is a nod of recognition for this authors Way of telling this story.

At times a bit slow, but never not entertaining, this book really paints a picture of the ups and downs of millennial-beloved J.Crew. Lots of detail, tons of research, and this still reads like a joyful podcast. Fascinating to see all of the tie-ins with business, culture, technology, change - a really interesting deep dive into a frankly iconic brand.
