This series really is killing it. Excited to continue!
I love Finlay and Vero! This book was just as fun as the first. The sleuthing duo are trying to solve the case of who put a hit out on Finlay's ex husband in an online forum. At the same time, Finlay is trying to juggle her two boyfriends, a cop and a lawyer, take care of her kids, handle her parents, and stay out of the way of Feliks Zhirov, a Russian mobster.
Whew! I loved all the twists and turns. There were a lot of pieces to this story and I sometimes got confused, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story. The relationship between Finlay and Vero is so great. It's wonderful to see two women supporting each other and having each other's back. This is just a fun mystery that you can read and enjoy without having to think too hard. It's probably best if you read the first in the series before this as it does assume some prior knowledge.
I love that the ending left plenty of room for a third book. I can't wait to see what Finlay and Vero get up to next! Thanks @netgalley for the advance copy!

Fact is stranger than fiction in the second installment in the Finlay Donovan series. The romantic suspense author, Finlay Donovan and her nanny, Vera get into outlandish situations outwitting the Russian mob, uncovering a hit attempt on her ex-husband, disposing of bodies they did not kill, and potty training. She's also juggling romantic interests from a hunky law student and a hot detective. All while trying to write a draft of her next novel.
It's a good time and a fun read. I really can't wait to read the next book and find out more about Vero's backstory. I also am rooting for Nick to win over Finlay; they are a great match.
I really enjoyed Angela Dawes' narration. Her voices for Finlay, Vero, Sylvia, and Delia are marvelous. The male characters tend to have similar raspy, whispery voices but for the most part, most scenes only have one male so it is easy to keep track of who is talking.

Still continues to be fun and surprising, does feel like we're getting into the terroritory of shows I've watched where characters get themselves into bigger and bigger messes with higher stakes, which I can imagine feels too repetitive for a lot of people but I'm still enjoying it

Another great story! The story picked up where the 1st one ended. It was funny and an adventure! Loving this series!

Like the first Finlay Donovan book, this one was enjoyable and comedic. Is it far-fetched that Finlay can get out of all these situations unscathed? Absolutely! But that's what I love about these books. I enjoyed this sequel almost as much as the first and can't wait to read the third book. These books are the perfect, fun reads if you can have a sense of humor and appreciate a little darkness.
