The graphics in this are stunning and do well to capture the changes in characters, as well as the symbols. I used this with my grade 10 class, and while they sometimes had trouble with the vocabulary (we used the original text), they understood and enjoyed the story as a whole.

Read this for school, it was interesting and unique. Definitely think it's an interesting book to analyse. The Graphic Illustrations was top notch, however, as we were required to read the graphic novel, not the actual book, I think detail and complexities of the characters was lost in translation. Perhaps I'll check out the original novel and see if the characters have more depth.

Too much exposition and while this is science fiction it reads more like literary fiction which I tend to find the prose too pretentious to enjoy.

My only complaint is that in some scenes, some of the minor characters were tough to tell apart, and this could be confusing for readers with no prior experience with the story.

It was good but I somehow expected more? (edit: upon reflection even more disappointing)

This was a fun read! Spooky and slightly gory... just right for the season, and for a person who is easily frightened, like me. :) I read the original quickly for a class many years ago and barely remember it all, and the graphic novel makes me want to pick it up again and give it a bit more attention. The story makes us wonder about kindness and the cruelty that may or may not live inside all of us. Where do we draw the line upon who deserves kindness, and who does not, and why? And aren't we all, in a way, responsible for the "creation" of our fellow humans as a result of how we treat each other? Interesting, interesting stuff, Mary Shelley.

(The stars are for the graphic novel, which I thought was good, though not mind blowing.)
