I was not expecting the ending at all. I thought it had it figured out at so many points and I was just slightly off at every turn. I liked that I felt like i knew what was going on but then didn't and that being on the edge the whole time was really what made me absolutely love this book. Immediately reading book 2

Left feeling confused on if I like it or not. Not sure if I'll read the next book. I am planning to still read her other book, Home Is Where The Bodies Are, and hopefully that will help me decide if she's an author I will enjoy. I do love her social media personality, just not sure if her books are for me.

This book didn't start out strong, but it got better as it progressed, and then it kind of dipped down a little bit. I thought I liked the ending but then as I contemplated about it I'm not sure that I did.

There are a lot of things that didn't make sense in this story which I just put my blinders on for because I was overall enjoying it and I was wanting to find out who committed the murder.

Once I finished listening to it though, I took a second to really think through everything that happened and it wasn't great. I don't hate or love it, I'm just meh about it. There are just so many inconsistencies and obvious plot holes in this book that I can't help but be irritated at it.

Read on for some spoilery thoughts:

Personally I knew right away that it was not Adam and that was never really consideration for me. It was just too obvious and easy of a case for him to have killed her so violently in his own home and leave all the evidence there for his housekeeper to find in the morning.

Also since it wasn't him how the fuck did he not notice all the dried blood in the bed or the SMELL of it! I get that it was dark and he thought she was just deep in sleep, but still. And actually now that I'm thinking that, if he had been with her for more than a year he should know whether or not she's a deep or light sleeper. Because IF she happened to be a light sleeper than that already should have set off alarm bells for him.

But he was an idiot for the rest of the book so who fucking knows.

At first I was a little sad that he was executed in the end but It is a good unexpected twist in a book. Authors don't often like to kill their main characters.

That last chapter though of Sarah telling all and wrapping it up nicely for us was a little much. I usually enjoy it when things get wrapped up nicely at the end of a book but her explanation wasn't enough. She implied that Adam had cheated on her before this one, and she already wanted to divorce him without giving her half of her money, so she came up with this elaborate scheme to pin Kelly's murder on him. It just seems like way too much for what he did.

I just have so many questions!

How long has she been wanting to divorce him? How long was she planning this before Ben came into the picture? Is cheating really the only reason she wanted to do this or was there more between her and Adam? Was Kelly really being abused by Scott? And if that's the story she was spinning to her other boy toy, Sheriff Stevens, why couldn't he have helped her? Why was she even sleeping with him at all? Did Kelly murder her first husband? How long had Ben been planning to get back at her for the murder of his brother?

I really think that Kelly Summers' life is the true story here and we missed out.
