a woman’s queerness was used against her to stop her from seeing her son.  a really emotionally detached look at the break up of a family and the bond between a mother and son. she seemed devoid of feeling and wouldn’t let herself become hopeful to see her son again. really sad.

Une lecture qui provoque un malaise durable, je ne sais que penser et reste avec le trouble. Une vision de l'amour maternelle qui repousse une limite du dicible pour le ramener dans la matérialité du réel.

Could not put this down. I finished it in 24 hrs. Really enjoyed the writing style. It gave a powerful commentary on how the justice system can destroy familial relationships. For me, the most compelling thing about this book was Constance's rejection of societal norms and her unexpected and unsentimental views on life, love, and motherhood. An important piece of autofiction.

‘What is this insane world I’m living in?’

Love Me Tender in its stark tone and composition exhibits the instability of being known or seen.

The sacrificial. The rejection of what is expected in the name of integrity. To be and remain, non conforming in spite of.

And yet there is the undoing of absence. Empty gestations. A work through all stages of grief and acceptance.
