Fragile Designs is a fast paced thriller centered around Carly’s husband’s unsolved murder and a Fabergé egg family heirloom. As Carly tries to figure out how to keep the egg (and her family) safe, she uncovers secrets from her husband’s past as well as her grandmother’s.

There were times I found my heart racing as I flipped the pages, needing to know what was going to happen next and whose life was in danger. My favorite thing about the book is that there is no strong language which is usually very prevalent in thrillers.

I was pulled into this story straight away. Beginning with Carly, hiding a secret from her husband, she plans to tell him that night, only to find him dead in her antique workshop.
What follows from that is a story of lies, murder and deceit onto riches, second chance love and lots of loving family time.
With plenty twists and heartfelt moments, it's a slightly different book to what I would normally read but it was brilliant!

To find out it took Colleen Coble 25 years to put this book together, you can tell its written with such love and care.

Thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for my audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

*sigh*. Listen, I LOVE crazy thrillers with unbelievable plots and premises, but this book was...I'll say it. It was just dumb. The writing was very poor, the characters were grinding, the romance was dull, the thriller aspect was boring as hell. I wish I could give a better review since I got this book for free as an ARC, but frankly, I want compensation for the time I wasted.
This was also not marketed as Christian Fiction on NetGalley and I didn't see that until looking on Goodreads after reading, but I feel like that might explain a lot of why I hated it so much. I grew up religious, I've read a lot of Christian Fiction, NONE of it is any good.
Anyway, sorry guys. I cannot in good faith recommend this to anybody.

Carly inherited her great-grandmother’s possessions to sell after her passing. However, her husband, Eric’s abrupt passing delays the process even more. Just before Eric’s death, she learns she’s pregnant. Nine months later, she’s had the baby and moved back in with her grandmother. Her grandmother tells her, she wants Carly and her sisters to turn her home into a bed and breakfast, pushing Carly to finally sell her grandmother’s possessions to prepare for renovations. Carly finds a chest containing documents and items Carly has never seen before, nor does she think her Grandmother has. Could any of the items be related to Eric’s death? Are her and her family in danger being in possession of any of the items? During the twists and turns following Carly uncover the meaning of the items she found and Eric’s death, we find out.

The discovery of a family secret puts Carly and her entire family in danger. Luckily for her her neighbor Simon is a family friend and a police officer. They join forces to try to figure out the secret and who will not stop at anything to get it. Will they figure out what is going on before it is too late?

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc for my honest review.

Colleen Coble has written another page turning suspense!

Single mom, Carly Harris, is struggling to pick up the pieces after the unexplainable and unsolved murder of her husband. She moved home with her grandmother to figure out her next steps when her grandmother suggests they turn the large family home into a bed and breakfast alongside Carly's two sisters.

Homicide detective Lucas Bennet and his brother Ryan live next door to Carly's grandmother. Ryan is hired to begin construction on the house, even though Ryan and Carly have a history - one that ended with broken hearts. Carly turns to Lucas as she begins to find mysterious clues, including a potentially lost Faberge egg. In finding that egg, Carly has put her family into danger and Lucas must help her unravel the mystery of who it belongs to and who is after it all while keeping Carly, her son and grandmother safe.

This story kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I did not see some of the twists and turns coming, while some did feel a little predictable. The story was fast paced and a great read to start off 2024 with!

Fabergé eggs have fascinated me for as long as I can remember, so as soon as I heard that Colleen Coble's newest book would be about one, I preordered that baby!

I found it to be a little confusing at first, and it read almost like a short story in that there was a lot of information thrown at you very quickly. But my brain caught up. This book was full of intrigue, suspense, and plot twist after plot twist.

If you're as enthralled with Fabergé eggs as I am, then you'll want to put this on your must-read list.
