Fragile Designs was an entertaining audiobook that I found enjoyable.

Colleen Coble has written an interesting story that has history woven in and was a great escape listen.
I did find it a bit unbelievable but don't let that detour you from listening/reading.

I received ARC of this audiobook from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Awesome read. Coble always writes quality Christian suspense, but this is one of her best yet, in my opinion

I can appreciate an FMC that balances caring and strong because too often writers think the two can't be synonymous, so applause to Coble.

Now, missing the fact that the author wrote Christian suspense was an oversight on my part, but it's admittedly just not my cup of tea. It was still a fun read!

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. So many twists and turns you didn’t see coming. I had a hard time putting this book down. It’s love stories with a few twists and turns. Great read. Highly recommend.

4.5 stars because I will likely reread later. It's a good book. It has a little different feel to me -maybe the baby- and I wasn't surprised by the end but I liked it.

Eric, a police officer, dies living behind his pregnant wife, Carly. After giving birth to a baby boy named Noah, Carly discovers that her grandmother is adopted and some other family secrets. She suspects that her husband is dead due to this discovery and tries to unravel the mystery with the help of Lukas, another police officer.

I find super fascinating how the story unravels and how the romance evolves. Also, I think it discusses some real staff that needs to be discussed. All in all, an interesting story and a decent ending.

While looking for a mystery or thriller on Audible, I ran across this freebie and thought I'd give it a try, and fortunately, it was free, or I'd feel I was overcharged. There may be some cliche that Coble missed while formulating this plot, but I don't think so. At some point when I was double checking to make sure that I hadn't paid good money for this, I noticed that it is also billed as a Christian Romance, a genre that I didn't know existed until now and wish I still didn't. I gave it two stars instead of one for the benefit of the Audible reader/narrator who does a nice job with what little she has to work with.

Thank you to Colleen Coble, NetGalley, and Harper Collins Christian Publishing for an eARC of Fragile Designs.

I need to preface this review by saying this book is published by a Christian Publisher. I didn't notice that before reading and the description of the book doesn't indicate any religious connection so the constant mentions of God and Faith were unexpected and, as a very non-religious person, detracted from the book for me. If you are a practicing Christian, you would probably enjoy this book more than I did.

I really wanted to enjoy this book. I loved the premise and the thought it would be an interesting mix of history and action. Instead, it was a mix of action and corny lines about love and God. The plot is super intriguing and there is a lot of action, but at every turn I found the characters praying about something or other. There were lots of mentions of unfaithful people and honestly I felt like so many of the characters in the book were portrayed as bad people that the author was trying to make the few good characters seem very holier-than-thou.

I found the writing to be very cheesy and just when I would think things were getting intriguing a line about trusting in God's process would be thrown in completely killing my reading vibe. As a non-religious person these moments detracted from the flow of the book and with the amount of murder, death, cheating, and manipulation seemed incredibly out of place.

I will say I enjoyed the overall plot - The minimal history provided about the Faberge eggs (which was repeated over and over and over) was interesting and made me want to look into them a bit more. I would have loved some more history about the raiding of the Romanov's castle and theories as to who stole the eggs, but that information never really came.

In the end - I wouldn't recommend this book to my non-religious friends, but Christians who enjoy thrillers may like this one.
