This was an easy, quick, fast-paced read once readers get in to it. It is a stand-alone, not associated with any of her other series. So, this book can be read on its own.
In true Coble fashion for anyone who has read this author before, you are going to have mystery, romance, complicated family dynamics, twists and turns, betrayal, murder and maybe even a happily ever after to look forward to, when all is finally figured out. If you haven’t read Coble before, this may be a great first time with her.
And, for those who may be curious about the infamous Faberge egg, there will be a mystery to be solved about that here, too.

This was just really hard for me to get thru. I was not feeling to. My mom said she loved it, so… who knows…sometimes it be that way…lol

This was such a wonderful story!!! The twists always surprise me. I got so attached to the characters & hope there will be another book with family members. Loved this book so much!

Basically a Hallmark movie on paper. Need a police officer and a contractor for your remodel? Well, both happen to live in the house next door. Want to find a missing Romanov Faberge egg? Better check grandma’s boxes and be read to strip paint. Need a family tree to solve the “twins-separated-at-birth” mystery? Good thing you’re ripping out walls. There’s no room for the reader to figure things out on their own. Everything is black and white and written right on the page. I wouldn’t label it as “suspense,” but more of an easy-to-read, Christian sloooooooow burn.

Colleen Coble is a go-to author of mine for romance and mystery, and she is in fine form with this release.
Of particular interest to me was the Faberge egg and its history; I've long been fascinated by (okay, okay, borderline obsessed with!) all things Romanov, so this fit right in!
The editing didn't seem quite as tight as other Coble books I've read--a bit wordier and more telling than showing. Still, I kept at it and was rewarded in the end; Coble proves to still be on her game, as I was kept guessing until the end. Faith is woven throughout as well, a nice return to standard with this publisher.

I checked this out on my library app and didn't realize it was tagged 'Christian Fiction'. As such, I was a bit surprised by the amount of 'praying' and 'it'll be God's will' sort of comments the characters made - overall it wasn't too overt though.
Outside of that, I enjoyed the mystery and the characters. And mentally I needed the HEA.
