"Some are born great, others achieve greatness"

"Twelfth Night". It's a romantic comedy and when it says comedy, it needs to have really good comic elements, otherwise why do we call it a comedy, right? And I'm glad that the comic elements of this book are pretty great.

We have four major characters in the book. Viola. Orsino. Sebastian and Olivia.

Viola belongs to an aristocratic family and her ship is wrecked in a storm and she thinks her twin brother Sebastian is no more. She thinks of making her way into the world and disguises herself as a young man named "Cesario". On the other hand, Sebastian is alive and thinks her twin sister Viola is no more. The confusion that happens because of this twin brother sister duo is very well put by the playwright and what I like about Shakespeare is when it's a comedy he put all the comic elements together very well and same goes when it's a tragedy. About Olivia and Orsino- Orsino is the duke of Illyria and Olivia is a wealthy beautiful Illyrian lady. There is a huge confusion between Viola, Orsino and Olivia and to me it's the major thing of the book. The confusion. When Sebastian joins, it becomes bigger. But at the end of the day, when everything unfolds, I couldn’t stop laughing.

The character Fieste is of great importance. Fieste is the fool of Olivia's households. He earns his livelihood by making pointed jokes, singing old songs and being witty. He is a professional fool but it seems like he says the wisest things among all of the characters cloaked under a layer of foolishness and that is why he seems like a minor character but he isn't actually. And this character caught my attention. His wit is worth praising.

As you all know Shakespeare had his own words, so it took a little effort to read the book and understand the meaning, actually it happens for every book of him. But it was worth it. Such a lovely read it was!

Goofy and absurd, I both didn’t need the side notations and did need them desperately at times. Didn’t actually expect to enjoy this, but maybe I’ll be reading more Shakespeare in the future? Could have definitely done without a lot of the hubbub at the beginning and end of the play- would have made for an easier carry on the plane.
