A girl with some serious fire power is forced into a bridal competition and will have to either win or be worked to death to pay off her debts. She needs to escape to save her home and hopes to get help from the Lord's fae bodyguard.
• no spice fae fantasy romance • powerful magic • bridal competition •
This is my first toe-dip into the fae genre, and I think I like it! There are some things that probably could have been better developed and some descriptions/background information that are repeated often (e.g., her brother had to leave to join the war, her firehawks are sick, she has huge boobs

This is a very sweet, slow burn, PG spice fantasy. And while it's labeled as adult fantasy and some topics are more adultish (like the mentioning of large breasts on the FMC), the banter & romance felt a little upper YA for me personally. The pacing made for a quick read though and the world is unique and interesting!
If you are in the mood for a clean, fae romance, with a marriage competition turned bodyguard romance plot, and a fun magical world - check this series out! The nice thing about this series is that each book is a standalone in the same world, just following new couples!
⭐⭐⭐.5/5

Eliza Tilton is a new to me author, when I was asked if I wanted to read one of her books I was like sure why not, I'm always looking for new authors/reads. I went into this novel blind - this review is my own unbiased opinions.
I loved the cover of The Moonlit Woods and I was intrigued to find out what novel awaited me. Well let me tell you as soon as I got into chapter 1 I couldn't put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The world building was richly created and the characters of the strong females gave a sense of something more than a male dominated stories. I loved, loved, loved Baine. His character being a Fae was unlike ones I've read before and it was nice to see a kind side to a Fae and not a tricky trickster. I also loved that he was a wolf shifter - that banter towards the end with Calvin had me laughing - it was a great relief in a tense scene.
Rosalie - I also loved her. She was so strong and was the perfect main character. Her determination put her into situations but it also created the character she was.
I saw on another review the descriptions of her curves and her breasts..as if it was a problem, well as a curvy person with breasts myself I didn't find these descriptions out of place and to be honest if I was strapped into bodices like Rosalie I'd be saying and thinking the same things.
As I said I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and though there's no spice in the story, I didn't find the novel lacking. I enjoyed that spice didn't distract from the main storyline and what a storyline it was. It had tense moments and twists that I didn't expect.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series just to find out what happens next for Baine and Rosalie.

4.5 stars! Welcome to the Magic Bachelor! Except that’s not what Rosalie was expecting when she arrived at Farrow’s Gate, instead thinking she was there to earn money to help save her home. Instead, she finds herself amongst other women who possess different magical gifts, and the magistrate is searching for the strongest one to marry and help him continue to protect the land. Rosalie is now trying not to reveal her true elemental magic, because she doesn’t want to marry this man. Even more intriguing, however, is his head guard, Baine, who is fae, with lavender skin and silver hair, and immediately piques her attention.
This is quite an interesting story. There is definitely something dark and sinister happening behind the scenes of this search for a wife, and when Rosalie discovers what it is, she is even more determined to not only not stay at Farrow’s Gate, but also to help all the other women who aren’t selected to be able to get away. Meanwhile, she encounters Blaine repeatedly on the property, only increasing her curiousity and interest in him. And we also get Blaine’s POV, and his perspective on the entire situation, and Rosalie, becomes increasingly more selfish as time goes on. While he wants the magistrate to find a wife, he doesn’t want him to select Rosalie.
There are some very interesting events that occur in the course of these magical tests that the magistrate puts them through, and Rosalie has to work harder and harder to hide her powerful magic. The magic system is interesting, and the politics of the different regions, and their hardships and needs, add intriguing subplots to the story as well. The story moves at a good pace, the characters are pretty well developed, and there are some interesting side characters that pull the story together nicely. Overall, a slightly dark high fantasy that kept my interest throughout.

Such a fun book
This was my first book from Eliza Tilton and I really enjoyed it. It was is fast paced and it gives you everything you need.
I enjoyed the story between Rosalie and Baine. Rosalie was doing everything she could to save her farm and she gets caught in a situation that doesn't have a favorable outcome. Rosalie is a very strong female main character. She does what she needs to do to help herself and her family. It is always great to read a female character that doesn't need to read rescued all the time.
I always love a Fae so I definitely fell for Baine and he his moodiness.

Lots and lots and LOTS of references to MC's ample bosom-- I get it, she's hot. Lots of running around hither and thither with no logic to it. It just wasn't for me, I guess. The latent threat of sexual assault really put a sour taste in my mouth, as did the aloof ML who doesn't know what love and attraction are. Not for me
