Loved this graphic novel series. I also love how korra’s stories always seem to be more grim and explore darker topics more fully. It was nice to see Asami and Korra work as a team and damn did they come up with a good villain for this one.
I really love the animated series that ended in 2014, and it was great to read about what happens in their story right after the finale.
This was a solid first outing for the Korra comics. I loved watching Korra and Asami’s relationship blossom. With both the show and the comics, the Republic City antics aren’t my favorite (the spirit world and more serious storylines are what I prefer) but it was a decent story. I’m very very excited about the second volume because Kuvira will be back!!
Ultimately, the more stories in the Avatar universe the better. ❤️❤️❤️

PROS
-first of all, the Library Edition is BEAUTIFUL. It's a work of art that justifies its price (on offer at least). Each page has been lovingly crafted and is full of vibrant, colourful, dynamic scenes. The scenes, whether the radiant and surreal spirit or the modernising Republic city are very well drawn. The characters are similarly, are just as stunning. All the new characters have excellent design, with specific Asian nations being, previously unrepresented in the Avatar universe being drawn upon for inspiration. As weird as it sounds.... The book also smells good too

Korra makes me very happy. Asami makes me very happy. Zhou Li makes me very happy. Should I go on? I could. Jinora makes me very happy. Even Varrick makes me happy!
The comic book villains are not as complex as the original show’s, but who cares?? It’s more LoK and I’m not complaining.

It was okay, but the last airbender comics were better.
There was something about the artstyle that bothered me. The faces were often... not great.
