Informative but could use reference pictures as had to keep resorting to other media to visualise what was described better as only 1 organism depicted per chapter. Enjoyed the passage of time and format of the book. Epilogue tying everything together was done very well

Quite mind-stretching at times as it takes an innovative approach to try and illustrate the changes across geological timescales. With regular "sorry, what?!" moments it gives a very thoughtful view on the resilience of life on earth (which is just as well given current trajectories). A book to enjoy slowly, each chapter in it's own right - simply to avoid getting too overwhelmed by the otherworldlyness of previous epochs.

A secret about me: I find science books about deep history and evolution very soothing.  This is prime bedtime storytelling to help me relax. I don't know why, maybe it's just the idea that life could survive us. This book is a lovely addition to the collection, well-researched, well-structured, well-told.
