Ok so just to caveat this, a lot of the reviews for this book are not that great so maybe take this with a pinch of salt but I really loved this book.

I have been in such a reading slump for the past couple of months really but I literally listened to this whole audiobook in two days (which is extremely fast for me). I found this so addictive, I couldnā€™t put it down.

The Daydreams follows the cast of a 2000ā€™s teen show as they return for a reunion years later. It is clearly inspired by the stories of Disney/Nickelodeon child stars that have come out in recent years. To me, this story is primarily an exploration of the way that these stars (particularly the young women) are treated by the media. It does touch on other themes but that was definitely the one that stood out to me.

It did a really great job of making me constantly question how I felt about each of the characters which I think was intentional. And as I said, I literally just couldnā€™t stop listening to this. There was one aspect of the ending of this that Iā€™m not sure I liked but that didnā€™t ruin the book for me.

I think I was just in exactly the right mood for this right now and now Iā€™m at a bit of a loss of what audiobook to read next.

this was like watching a train wreck but I couldnā€™t stop myself from reading! though itā€™s a contemporary novel and it deals with adult issues it came across as childish and shallow to me. very outlandish but engaging in its drama, nonetheless.

This book made me anxious in the best way. The setting was really interesting and I really liked the flashbacks interspersed. My only critiques are that the end felt a bit rushed and very cheesy, and the soliloquies werenā€™t my fave.

Sometimes, you need a Break Book. You've been reading a lot of grimdark horror and sad nonfiction and you just need a nice, fast-paced romp to have a good time and clear your head. I deem this a wonderful Break Book. I'm going to try and keep this review short.

I liked: the fast pace, the primary sources at the end of some chapters to break up the plot, the narrators of the audiobook I got off Libby, the gooey happy ending, and that sweet, sweet, messy drama.

I didn't like: the catty girl-on-girl hate, some of the characters, a big seemingly out-of-character moment at the climax, plot contrivances that made the inciting incident possible.

This book is no stunning work of literature, nor would it come up on a list of books I'd actively recommend to people when there are so many better titles out there. But I wouldn't discourage anyone from reading it! I, in fact, had a great time.

i fear ppl need to stop recommending this as a ā€˜daisy jonesā€™ 2.0 book when it has so much more to offer than being compared to a different (but tbf rlly good) book that has similar theming

Reminded me of the types of books I loved in high school. Very fun!
