Difficult to get into and difficult to finish the end. The middle part of this book carries. It was slightly triggering to read as someone who comes from an extremely religious background

One of my favorite books of all time. Highly recommend this book about a family who moves to Africa to do mission work. Each chapter is told from the perspective of a different family member, one of whom is obsessed with words/sentences that read the same backward and forward. Very intelligent book!

It took me over a month to finish this book, it simply could not hold my attention. I liked the main story of the Price family, but I think it did not need over 500 pages to be told. Kingsolver is a good writer, but I was unable to appreciate her style as the story just seemed unending. At times, it was hard to follow as well.

this book is probably good, but there is just something sooooo specifically irritating to me about reading aggressively endearing Southern children povs. And i say that as a southern WV girlie. i simply cannot continue
