I liked the premise of the story.

Ceaton was a great character.

Mary Calmes writes character driven stories and her heroes are people you root for.

I enjoyed the setting and the friendships and family Ceaton found.

While the writing was good, the mafia angel was naive. Ceaton becomes part of a mafia crime family too easily. The bad things he and his brothers do are skimmed over. You dont see any of it affect them.

It was too simplistic and didnt ring true.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I am Mary Calmes TRASH. This was ridiculous and I loved it and I finished it in an afternoon. I was cranky when I had to put it down for dinner but I was starving and it could not be helped.

This one felt very rushed and there were a few leaps in logic. It was fun, though, and the story was interesting.

Mary Calmes' books are always the best. Like, ALWAYS. So of course I loved this one, how could I not?! Will reread this one again and again, just like the others from Mary. It's always so nice to see people from te past and I love how they interact with the new ones. Thanks for this fabulous story Mary.

Wonderful. Once started it must be finished. MC manages to redeem the irredeemable and Ceaton is one of her finest characters. Loved the relationship between Ceaton and his men who make up his family and the man who brings him back into the light. Yes MC does "insta-love" but suspend disbelief and just go straight to the feelings and emotions. Great read.

I just could not finish this book.
Murder, murder, murder... all of it spoken about so matter of factly. I knew the blurb said it was about a mob enforcer with a heart, but in 2 hrs of audio I heard nothing but death and destruction without a hint of conscience. I don't care where the romance comes from, it just would not fit within the boundaries of so much death. A complete turn off so I had to DNF.

Had this on my TBR list for a while. I read until just over 50% when they meet and just coudn't read the rest. It was InstaLust followed very quickly by InstaLove. Ceaton is a love wolf, never settle down type. Minutes after meeting Brin they're making out on his couch, and then barely an hour later Ceaton's inner monologue is "If Brin were mine, if I were ever gifted with his permanent presence in my life, I would shout it from the rooftops. Everyone would know." Brinley's attraction is akin to hero worship stemming from an attempted assault Ceaton saved him from a few years earlier. That Ceaton has trouble recalling.
