What a fun listen was! The author reads it and at first I was annoyed by his voice but I was soon totally caught up in it and couldn’t stop listening. A bit like David Sedaris, Gary Janetti is funny, obnoxious, sweet, and honest to a fault. I highly recommend this quick read!

Parts of it I laughed out loud and nodded my head in agreement, and parts of it I flipped forward asking myself “How many more pages left in this chapter?” I appreciated his honestly, even if I didn’t always appreciate his humour. This is about the rating I tend to give most collections of this type of essay, so it just might not be the genre for me.

Gary is a character and I liked this better than his first book probably because a lot was travel . That said, he gets over the top irritated about silly stuff.
The highlight of this collection were the cruise chapters: truly funny recollections and happenings. Otherwise there was a bit too much epistolary-style pickups and stops when the author stepped away.
However, I believe I am guilty of that very much in my own writing. It does tend to make the book less formal and certainly lends itself to giving the narrative a sense of time spent while reading.
