This was a fun one! I don't read paranormal romance too often because it's hard for me to find a writing style AND romance that I like, but this one was a good time! There were a few things I didn't vibe with but they're more tiny nitpicks than things that actually mess up the story. I really appreciate how this book was a little silly and didn't try to take itself seriously. Sometimes you just need a fun book and this one delivered!

I also really like how the urban fantasy aspect came into play with this one. I feel like most urban fantasies I read keep the whole magic thing in general a secret? Like it always seems to be hidden and underground for plot purposes, so it was a breath of fresh air to read a book where magic and different magical races were just known and out in the open and everyone was cool with it. The magic system wasn't anything completely unique but it was fun! The whole "demon blood giving them super x-ray eyes" was interesting and kind of power I never thought about before, especially when the author showcased how it can be used from everything to identifying wards to seeing harmful bacteria in someone's body to seeing structural faults in buildings. Very creative.

I might give the rest of the series a read too!

This was really cringey at times. The dialogue was really childish, which I guess to each their own. But it just made me really uncomfortable.

There was basically no plot and somehow also no romance. I was pretty bored throughout the entire thing and found myself skimming the last 20% of the book.

this very mch insta love and even though the magic is pretty cool in concept that’s not fleshed out. we see them go to three missions and we see basically none of it.
