How dare you John Gwynne?
If I do not find Orka alive and well in the third book I will riot! That is a promise!

The saga continues in a brilliant way! I loved every inch of this. The way Gwynne can put such a vast world onto paper is a lesson every writer can learn from. I don’t know if I’ve ever felt so immersed in a story, but Gwynne picks you up and puts you right there; sitting on a sea chest with an oar in your hand and the sea spray in your face. Every character and POV is interesting, the way they intertwine shocked and delighted me. I can’t wait for more!

A stunning sequel for an incredible series.

I LOVE this series so far, it has it all: Incredible fight scenes, a weaving of an intricate plot, and heartfelt relationships. I was really glad to get a few more perspectives this time. Especially from the "villains" of this story. That was truly interesting and entertaining. One of the reasons why I liked those perspectives so much was that you get to see the "hero's" in a light that is not so flattering. Especially with Elvar,  but I do hope that she comes to the realization that it's not someones ancestry or the blood that flows through somebody's veins that makes up their character, but it's the decisions that they make.

This makes me hungry to read more John Gwynne!

This book took everything great about the first book, and somehow improved it to make an even more captivating story.

The plot for all our POV characters were entirely engaging, the action felt potentially slightly more vivid, and the scale of the story is expanding in an epic fashion. I loved everything about this book, and I cannot wait for the final book. I also can't wait to hopefully read the rest of Gwynne's works next year. He's already an all-time favorite author. Great stuff.
