I love how the book is about gaming (big nerd:)) but it kind of beats the point of don't trust anybody only because you don't know who they are behind the screen. But I still love the book and I like how the protagonist helps this kid in China even if she is younger!! I also just love the art and how each character is drawn, its so cool.

What a lovely little book. I wanna read more like it!

“This life is real too. We’re communicating aren’t we?”

Pros: Fast read, graphic novel about girl gaming and the lack of girls in gaming, new concept, characters were diverse.

Cons: I'm not a gamer, so the gold harvesting idea for money was totally a new concept for me. Because of that, I felt like I missed something. I appreciated the idea, and I want to learn more.

I feel like this book could have been longer. It all seemed to happen so quickly, which, hey, I appreciate that I can bang out a book I've been meaning to read in 20 minutes. But there was so much more that could have been added to flush out everyone.

Overall? Meh! Not bad.

This. This book is one of the reasons that goodreads is such a great community. Had this book not garnered such good reviews and been in the goodreads 2014 awards category for best graphic novels, I would never have found it or taken the risk to read it.

That said, it is a quick, but interesting read on a topic that I have read a very little about, but is somewhat intriguing. I won't say that it changed my life, but it was well written and worth a fast read.

I’ve been wanting to read this for literally years and it did not disappoint. Loved it and the art is gorgeous.

Very pretty and cool artwork. Makes me want to play this noexistent game. It was also a nice story about socialization and organizing. I loved seeing how Anda grew in both confidence and kindness.

When I was eight years old, I made a female Runescape avatar with hot pink hair and matching clothes. Within two minutes I had multiple other players come up to me and repeatedly say “ur hot”. I don’t think joining an unsupervised all-girl guild would have done anything to prevent this.

I appreciate the attempt to tell this story, but I think it needed to come from someone closer to the issues at hand - I am far too uninformed to comment on how the Chinese characters were handled, but since the sexism aspect was brushed aside rather poorly, I have little faith much else was done right. At least the art was pretty.
