Really enjoyed this but felt some of the writing was a bit weak, especially in Harriet’s chapters. It was also a bit too expositional and didactic in parts. But a very fun read.

What happens when the only way to right an egregious wrong is to team up with your nemesis?

Harriet Price is a perfect student. She gets good grades. She does what is expected. Will Everhart is a troublemaker. She has a big mouth and she isn't afraid to use to speak out against any and all injustices she encounters. The two become an unlikely team when they band together to oust their swim coach's inappropriate behavior (swept under the rug by school administration of course) and in the process create Amelia Westlake--an imaginary student who can stand up to authority and right numerous wrongs across the school.

The comparison for this one to The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks are spot on with a bonus hate-to-love romance as Harriet and Will realize their unlikely alliance might be turning into a lot more.

I was very impressed with this book. It was incredibly enjoyable and I was sad when I finished it. I love the themes and my only real complaint is that I wish they had addressed the racism in the book a bit more. I also liked how it was written from both Will and Harriet's perspective. It's so exciting to find good YA Australian books and this is one I definitely recommend. It's books like this one that I wish had been written when I was a teenager.
