Not his best work but there is still something engaging about his writing style that made me complete the book.

I truly enjoy Chandler's writing. I hope audible does the rest of the series.

4,5 Gdyby oddać klimat w kilku zdaniach, a jest to zadanie trudne, bo Chandler maluje mroczne USA lat 40 niezwykle precyzyjnym i wręcz gangsterskim, ociekającym ironią językiem, wyglądałoby to mniej więcej tak - lekko wczorajszy detektyw Marlowe zapija dwa jajka trzema czarnymi kawami na śniadanie. Następnie wychodzi i pije w losowych miejscach drogą whiskey z przypadkowymi ludźmi, ciągle usiłując oczywiście rozwikłać morderstwo. Czasem dostanie w pysk, obudzi się w nieokreślonym miejscu i postrzela sobie z pistoletu. A na koniec znowu napije się whiskey, tym razem w swoim domu. Mordercę jednak znajduje.
