🔫 Go brush your teeth, comb your hair, put on dry clothes and get the guns. We're going to Wal-Mart. And then we're going to The Edge Buddy Read/Reread of 2018 in all our smug white flashing glory! Cause I scheduled it, and you know how I am about my schedules. 🔫

I didn't like the first book. I know it is a shock and I was shooketh to my core! Me? Not liking an All Hail The Powerfully Powerful Authorlords book?

Welp, it happened anyway.
But! There is still hope!
I really liked this one, wayyyy better than the first. Still had issues that annoyed me but volumes better than the first.

The usual excellent quality of Ilona Andrews - I've enjoyed the book a great deal. An ideal mixture of fantasy and romance, not too much focusing on the romantic plot, but it's not a mere background thread either.
This book was considerably darker than I had expected, but that's actually fine: it takes away some of fairy-tale feeling - although, of course, things work out perfectly at the end.
Although the first book of The Edge series has very little to do with this second one, they're not quite as detached as I had thought: there are intertwining threads, which gives the series the potential to be... well, a series.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book, although I don't think I'll read it sometime soon; too much of the romantic fairy-tale type of stories at once make me irritated.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this featured a different couple than from the first installment. Cerise and William are more of a slow burn and the banter between these two is classic IA. I enjoyed learning more of the Weird and Edge dynamics and can't wait to start the next installment.
IA can do no wrong in my book!

I think the only thing that kept me from giving this book 5 stars was that it felt there were holes in the story that didn't quite mesh with me. I'm surprised by this because I have never gotten that impression from any of Ilona's books. I was a little upset that Declan wasn't in this book too. I was really hoping to see him.

I gave myself some time to read the next Edge books after I read the first one. I loved Rose and Declan so much that I didn't want to forget about them just yet and push them aside to let new characters take over. But after some time and at a loss at what to read next I decided to try the last two Edge books.
I love William. He is so much more defined in this book then he was in the first. I am such a sucker for possessiveness, "You are mine, my mate" crap its not even funny. Oh to find a real William in this world! I read it so fast that when I got to the actual sex scene I was like "Holy crap that took this long!" didn't even notice how long it took because it was so good.
I think I like Rose and Declan more because I could relate to Rose more but I do like Cerise and I think her and William make a perfect match. Towards the end I did get a little wishy washy because it felt like so much was going on but its worth it and it explains enough in the beginning that towards the end its okay that Ilona Andrews is cramming more in there. I get it, she has to explain more to set up the next books.
Anyways I would read this whole series again, its a super quick and fun read that will keep you wanting more.
