When I saw there were four books in this series, I thought they all followed the same couple. I was pleasantly surprised to find that isn't the case.

William intrigued me in the last book, On the Edge, and I was anxious to get his story. Having been raised in an orphanage and, aside from his quasi-friendship with Logan (the hero of the first book), he's been alone his whole life. He craves a family and connections to other people, but he's too wary to make friends or trust new people. He's also a stone-cold killer who is trained in all areas of combat. Oh, and there's the small thing that he can change into a wolf at will. He thinks Cerise is a meek little thing when he first meets her, and vows to protect her. Until he realizes she's just as skilled and deadly as he is. I think the first time he watched her kick ass is when he started falling in love.

“Stay back this time,” Cerise said. “It’s my fight.”
“There are nine of them. Don’t be stupid.”
“Stay the fuck back, William.”
“Fine.” He took a step back and raised his crossbow. If that’s the way she wanted it, he could always rescue her later. “Let’s see what you got.”
The larger boat slammed into them, sending a quake through the hull. Two men jumped onto the deck.
Cerise struck and paused, blood running down her blade.
The first two fighters died without a scream. One moment they stood on deck, and the next the top halves of their bodies slid down into the river.
William closed his mouth with a click.
The attackers drew back.
The edge of Cerise’s sword shone once, as if a glowing silver hair were stretched along the blade. She leaped onto the larger boat.
They swarmed her. She whirled, cutting through them, slicing limbs in half, severing muscle and bone. Blood sprayed, she paused again, and the fighters around her fell without a single moan.
Four seconds and the deck was empty. Nothing moved.
She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
He would have to fight her before this was over, just to find out if he could beat her.

Cerise doesn't trust easily, but she agrees to take William home with her when she realizes he's a target and he's more than capable of helping her in a fight. If the idiot man would stop trying to protect her, that is. She's a fully trained warrior and knows how to handle herself in a fight, plus she knows more about the swamp than he does. That doesn't stop her from lusting after him, though. As they get deeper into the swamp, she becomes more and more impressed with him.

When she was a teenager, she used to imagine meeting a stranger. He would be from the Weird or the Broken, not from the Mire. He would be lethal and tough, so tough, he wouldn’t be afraid of her. He would be funny. And he would be handsome. She’d gotten so good at imagining this mysterious man, she could almost picture his face.
William would kick his ass.
Maybe that was why she couldn’t get him out of her head

Cerise's large family is colorful and really comes to life. Aunts, uncles, cousins..each had their own personality and quirks, I loved getting to know them and watching them interact with each other. Keldar and Lark especially stand out, as both their backstories are intriguing. Keldar acts like a happy-go-lucky guy all the time, but it's obvious there's more depth there than he'd like to let on.

Seeing William become enfolded in the family and fall for Cerise was wonderful. I wanted to see him become part of something and that's exactly what happened here. Cerise was more emotionally balanced than he was, but she had her own baggage. They were evenly matched in every way and I loved watching them fall.

The action and adventure in this novel was on point. Their search for Cerise's parents, Spyder and his altered agents, the mystery of what Spyder was looking for, the feud between Cerise's family and the Sheeriles...all of it kept me on the edge of my seat. Fair Warning, there's a high creep factor here with some of the baddies in the swamp and Spyder's agents, and some of it was really gory, but I can't deny I loved every bit of it.

Andrews' imaginative and detailed world really comes to life here. I highly recommend the story.

A little darker than I prefer but IS can do no wrong.

It was good. I liked the pace. I do get a little overwhelmed with the elements and descriptions of the swamp but it does help set the scene. Also, lots of characters in this particular book. Several times I had to stop and think about who was who and what was what. Overall a very good read.

"Bayou Moon" continues Ilona Andrews record of quality, well-written and enjoyable paranormal novels. Like her Kate Daniels series, the Edge books seem to be getting even better.

"Bayou Moon" is a thicker book than "On The Edge" but its so packed with adventure and romance that it feels over far too quickly. William and Cerise live in different parts of the Edge. William is on a quest to hunt down an enemy who is on a quest for something related to Cerise and her family. The two band together in an effort to combine forces to get rid of their common enenmy and hopefully rescue Cerise's kidnapped parents.

There were far too many plot twists and intriguing side characters to mention in one review. The book had so many important developments and revelations that it was sometimes hard to keep up. Cerise's home in the swamplands of the Edge include all her extended family. They all have vibrant personalities and I wanted to know more about them in the worst way. Everytime any of them was in danger I was worried about each of them.

William is my favorite hero in recent memory. He is a "ruthless" killer, a horrifying changeling but his character had so much heart. He is basically a big kid. Cerise does what she has to do no matter how much she hates it. William needs a strong woman and I never questioned the believablity of their love for each other.

The story has a slight misstep. Obviously I don't feel that it impacts the book enough to warrant a lesser rating. Their were times at the very end where scenes felt rushed. It defintely felt like the writers couldn't go over a certain page count. This led to a couple of brief moments of confusion where I had to go back and reread a paragraph or two.

Forgive me for not giving more detail about the occurances in this story. Everything is so tightly knit together that it would be a shame to spoil anything.

Re-read. Not reading this immediately after On the Edge made it a better experience, I think. It allowed me to enjoy this on its own without constantly comparing them (the leads and the plot structures are pretty similar).

I enjoyed the characters William and Cerise and adored the huge supporting cast, although sometimes the interactions between the villains and the heroes made me feel like I was reading X-Men comics. (Not that that's a bad thing, but IA usually has a bit of a lighter touch.) The plot was huge, well-paced and mostly coherent. (The whole search for the Mar family traitor element should have been cut, though, imo-- it was kind of clunky and the way this person's identity was unveiled made me think "how did you know about that, but didn't know about that?" And I can't say more without spoiling it.)

Overall, I enjoyed it quite a bit; stayed up too late to finish it and was dismayed to realize that I'm going to have to wait another year to read the next in the series. While I wish there had been more time spent with just William and Cerise, I would still highly recommend this to fans of romantic fantasy, whether or not you've read the first in the series.

This book started off slow for me and it took me awhile to get into. However, it got much better! I loved William in the first book and I wanted him to find his true love because I felt bad Rose didn't want him. Cerise is better for him anyway being nearly as wild. I ended up loving it!

Another fantastic installment for Ilona!!! Love this series! I loved the banter between William and Cerise!! I don't want to say too much as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but this one grabs you from the very start and doesn't let you go until the very last page!!!
