Enticing, exciting, action-filled and a little hot ;)

I sped through this pretty quickly. Enjoyed it slightly less than the first installment because the romance didn't get as much attention as I'd hoped, I felt the hero was cheated out of a resolution he deserved, and there was some stupidness on the part of both hero and heroine at one point that just seemed unnecessary.

Honestly closer to 1.5. I always find these books engaging, but, I hate the extreme gender roles portrayed in the characters. It’s just really hard to get through for me. Just world devoid of LGBTQ+ people.

This book is so damp, muddy, slimy and creepy that I was uncomfortable reading it. How is that for descriptive writing? The villain is strangely civilized and quickly viscous. The locals are trying to survive and rescue their loved ones.

Not as good as the first, mostly because I really couldn't bring myself to like the main characters as much as the first book in this series or in her other series. The villain left something to be desired as well.
