I was enjoying this even thought it was very insta-love and showing it's age. The build of the suspense was keeping me interested. However, when Caroline lost her temper at Max for losing his temper and then went and yelled at him about getting upset. It was just very very self righteous. I was kind of baffled and confused and no longer liked either one of them.

Decent audio by Michael Ferraiuolo.

CWs: graphic domestic violence, rape, murder

This was a really solid throwback suspense novel! It sort of read like an old-school James Patterson with a bit more romance. It was a thoroughly enjoyable novel and the endorsements were accurate--a gripping, edge-of-your-seat read.

Disappointing when the villain is the only interesting character.

Unlikeable main leads (heads up their asses) and silly disagreements

This was a good, quick read. I like the author's writing style. She wrote her characters well and the story flowed nicely. I wouldn't mind reading more by her.

OMG this book was terrifying - and many trigger warnings for anyone who has been abused emotionally or physically.

Despite being super scared the whole time I did like it - the (sane) characters are imperfect and have to work for their relationships.

The suspense was real in this one. I really enjoyed reading this book, even though I had a bit of a hard time getting into it. Once I was past the halfway mark I just couldn’t stop reading.
