english and spanish review

ARC provide in exchange for an honest review.

This is my battle and I won’t shy back from it.

I was excited about this book but at the same time I was afraid, I’m not a big fan of the kidnapping trope and Cora said that this book wasn’t going to be like Remo and Serafina and I was more excited about Maddox than Marcella, I’m not gonna lie (of course I’m a clown).

Marcella was a great surprise, a character who stood out from the start. For me, Marcella was the one who carried the whole book. It is obvious that she is the princess of Luca, the princess of the family and that she has been spoiled, but at the same time she knows what she’s worth, she’s very clear about who she is and she’s a character with a strong personality but without becoming annoying. I like her determination to work for her father.

And it is in moments like this that you see a small evolution in the traditions of the Famiglia that I really loved.

Marcella’s relationship with Amo was wonderful and I adored Amo (I was curious about Amo because it’s going to be Greta’s loving interest and my girl deserves the best). The Vitiello in this book stand out and I loved to see Luca looking at Aria in love. And the conversation of Marci, Luca and Amo, well, thoughts I think.

Now we go with Maddox and the MC, well, I hate them (not Maddox obviously).
Maddox was a character I was looking forward to but it didn’t make a big impression on me, is not a bad character but neither is a character I adored, for now is totally indifferent, I hope that changes in the second part.

I didn’t like the relationship between Marci and him, having two books I thought it was going to be a slowburn, but probably I'm gonna love them in the second book.

And that ending, I have two theories and I don’t know what to think, just wait for the second book.
and for the last: satan

(And yes, I have a theory of how amo and greta can meet)

Really good

I really enjoyed this. I was so excited to dive backninto cora's mafia world with the next generation. This combins 2 of my favourite things mafia and MC Clubs! It was refreshing to get so much of the biker world. Marcella i loved ger growth in this book she went from weak and spoilt to strong, and a total badass! Maddox i liked him he was so fueled by hate and revenge its was enjoyable seeing marcella bring out a softer side
Luca will always be my main squeeze so to get some kire of him made mg heart so happy.
I cant wait for book 2 to see what happens

I had high expectations for Marcella like a lot of people but ultimately that’s on me. Still she was strong in her own way and I liked her.

Maddox is different. Honestly I don’t know what to feel about him, I liked him but I’m not crazy about him. Not that’s something wrong about him per say but something is lacking. Marci has him wrapped around her finger for sure and maybe that is what’s weird about Maddox but I also liked how wrapped around her finger he is so I’m not sure about any of this.

Marcella showed her strength and put her foot down with her father and I liked it. I just wished she were more bad*** but all in all it was ok.

Now the sexy times fell flat for me. It didn’t do anything for me but I’m still holding hope that will change in part two. I think part of it is because their relationship and feelings were built on a very shaky foundation and lots of hatred.

I loved seeing all my faves again and seeing the kids all grown up. Amo is gonna be probably worst than Lucas and I can’t wait for his book. Aria is a little bit wiser but still so naive after 24 years of marriage…

I liked it a lot when i first read it and rated it 4 stars.

Now a year later I question my taste.

There was barely any connection between them they both were very bland characters and there was just no tension there.

They declar to be in love and he betrays his club for her but I didn't feel anything.

And despite the fact that she was kidnapped I never felt like she was really in danger and it just coud not get me emotional involved or involved at all.

I honestly don't know if I will reread the second book.

To be honest I almost give By Sin I Rise only 2 stars. I am still not a big fan of Miss Reilly. Her writing style for dark romance to be honest too mild for me.

She build a good plot with all of that family drama/ feud. The war between those mafia family are gripping.
Sadly she does not accompany it with good romance. The chemitry between Marci and Maddox is non existing. And the romance is quick. Rushed.

Before of my final judgement, I put this book 3 stars. I have to read the next book to give my rating.

2 ⭐️

I'm not even going to write a huge review to explain what made not enjoy this book, I'm only gonna say what necessary.

Everything is so rushed. Marcella is annoying 80% of the book. Maddox is such a boring character when you compare him to the others MC in Cora's books. The plot was some sort of Remo and Serafina's book with some different aspects.
There's an entire chapter of Luca's pov of everything that was happening with Marcella. For what reason? I'm a little tired of all these povs of the same timeline and the same plot.
The bikers were so dumb and disgusting.
The whole dogs things..... just no.
The ending was a disappointment and I'm not even sure if there was a need to write another book about them when, if she added 4 more chapters, the plot could end.

Bonus things in this book is that I got to see Matteo again and a bit more of Amo.
It's not like I had big expectations but it's just sad that I feel the quality of the books keep getting worse.

By Sin I Rise: Part One is the first book of the Sins of the Fathers series and was one of my most anticipated reads for this year it did not disappoint!! Maddox and Marcella’s story was almost everything i wished for it to be

Marcella is definitely her father's daughter she is bold, smart and beautiful and at the same time she is different from him and that makes her character more interesting, she takes stands for herself and has her life planned until some turns of events. I loved seeing her interact with her family and having the Vitiello family back made me very happy .

Maddox's character was unknown to me cause he was only mentioned once in the previous books. To see him go from wanting Luca dead to helping Marcella escape and not killing Luca was definitely exciting.

I cant wait to read rest of the children's books and part two of Maddox and Marcella’s story after that cliffhanger

2.5⭐
