Honestly quite disappointed. The author wrote one of my favorite series (i.e. Camorra Chronicles) but I feel like the writing skills have really gone down in quality with her last few books. This one is just as big a disappointment. I felt absolutely nothing during the whole read. The plot, the characters, the dialogues were all extremely flat. Plus if I have to hear one more mention of "cream" I'm going to pull my hair out. While I was intrigued by Marcella Vitiello and how she owns her privileged upbringing/lifestyle, she didn't bring much else to the table. We were TOLD she's smart and top of the class, but I didn't see examples of her intelligence in the story. Maddox - Mad Dog - White was so inconsistent to me and didn't have much of a presence at all. We were TOLD he's been consumed by getting revenge ever since watching Luca butcher his entire biker family, including his own dad, but he confesses to not having any great memories with his dad and insta-falling-in-love with the enemy's daughter once she was kidnapped. He tried so hard to say he's loyal and he's bled more than anyone for the biker family, but from how no one listened to him or respected him, I really couldn't believe a single word. ALSO, he so easily SNITCHED on people he swore to be loyal towards.... so, he's just flaky. I didn't think there was any chemistry between Maddox and Marcella, and it all felt rushed. Amo's "character development" doesn't make sense to me either. One moment he plays video games and gets with the girls ( he's only 15 and already HUGE apparently??), the next moment he is ready to maim/murder and looking up torture techniques. Lastly, Marcella wanting to take charge of the Enforcers came out of no where!! All in all, I felt absolutely no emotional connection to the book. The only "dark part" was there was actually physical torture (tattoo, cutting of earlobe).
fast-paced
my thoughts: this did not need to be a two-parter book cora just write a long one and stop with the money grab already, everything felt too rushed, i didn't think i could despise luca more than i already did yet cora proved me wrong again, and honestly good for maddox for yeeting the fuck outta the famiglia as soon as he could, like no offense marcella, but fuck your dad and your brother, he literally owes them nothing lmao i would've done the same thing but i know cora's gonna come up with some lame ass excuse for him leaving like he needed to be his own person/build his own business or money before he could be 100% with marcella. at the end of the day, everything was luca's fault and still he didn't pay a single thing for the consequences of his past actions, maddox should have stabbed him in the eye like he originally intended

okay, first of all, the book wasn't a disaster, i even enjoyed mostly, but at the end, there where a couple of things that made me unable to give this book more starts
first of all, just in general, i didn't had any expectations, i didn't even like the vitiellos so i was a little bit annoyed to read about them, specially since i knew luca would have a pov and yes, he isn't my fav
buT, gotta say, it was pretty good, it had enough things to keep me reading, unable to taking breaks, i finished the book in a couple of hours and that's something
i loved marcella, i seriously loved her. she was strong, a fucking badass who didn't take anyone's shit, and fought with everything she had, she didn't break easily even tho i wouldn't blame her on it. she just–she's a fucking fighter, she's truly amazing, i think she may be one of my favorites in this entire universe.
maddox.. okay, here's one thing: i didn't hate him, i did like him but he didn't feel important (?) or didn't had any big presence to me, not like marcella, so it felt like it was her book and maddox was just a love interest, not a co-protagonist
also, i know cora said she had just so much to tell us that she divided this into too books and yet.. they felt like insta love. there's not so much of their relationship developed, they're madly in love but we don't see them falling for each other specially considering they're enemies. this whole book was short, do many things happened and those things where happening too fast, if you decide you're gonna write two books at least write more you know you can add more words that's all I'm saying.
you can definitely tell this wasn't write to be a duology, it was just chopped at a convenient point, and maybe it would've been better, it wouldn't have feel this way, if you just gave us the entire book.
in general, i loved to read more of the other characters, the way i SCREAMED at that one mention of remo falcone.
i really liked aria here, she's definitely better, the way she was asking for blood because of what they did to marcella >>>>>
matteo my man I'll do anything for you, wish we could've read more of gianna and isa but i get why it wasn't possible, still I'm crossing my fingers for the next book.
i liked growl too, you know no one pays him attention but he's one of my favs lol, he's just chilling with the dogs, and the way he saw himself reflected in maddox so he gave him advice? precious.
also i liked how you can tell the famiglia had changed over the years, but things that where traditions for centuries aren't easily forgotten. marcella was allowed to study and she could have a job and I loved that she not only took that opportunity but was 100% ready to prove herself, she knew she would have to and she didn't run away from it.
there are some elements that i didn't expect and even tho they were idk how to say it, I'm glad cora is taking more risks and marcella had some horrible things such as the tattoo and the ear thing, it made everything so much dangerous and it was what everyone expected, it could've been worse, yes, but I hope the rest of the books don't run away from this themes if they ever get to them.
i think that's mostly how i felt during the book, i don't know what will happen next but marcella supremacy indeed.
