This book ended much better than I expected. I was not very invested in the premise of the book until 70 pages in when it started to peak my interest. I was able to draw a lot of parallels between the classism of this book and a certain pig faced president who was recently voted out of office. Very scary that this book was written so long ago and yet we continue to repeat history. Overall I think it's a book that everyone should read, but it's not my favourite.
Minor: Alcoholism, Animal cruelty, Animal death, Bullying, Emotional abuse, and Forced institutionalization

Animal Farm is an allegory about farm animals that rise up and take over their farm. At first, the animals all work for themselves and to better their lives, but quickly things start to devolve.
I don't think I'd say this was an enjoyable story, but it is very interesting. It also has a good lesson and an anti-rich message. I also think it's fascinating how one can alter a story of a being after they have left like in the case of Snowball. Overall, this book is useful and can probably be a great teaching aid (though I don't remember what we did with it when I was in high school).
CWs: Animal Death, Animal cruelty, violence, gaslighting, death, murder, slavery, classism, blood, gun violence, alcohol consumption, injury/injury detail, alcoholism, confinement, emotional abuse, gore, bullying. Moderate: War.

A fast-paced classic devoured in an afternoon. One star deducted because cats cannot survive without meat and that fact kept annoying me every time the cat was mentioned - how would he survive under the new regime without killing and eating meat?! Anyway, please excuse me - I am about to have an existential crisis about my labour feeding the corporate machine...
