I knew, I just KNEW, that Ozroth was another Adam Driver fanfic character. But I quite liked this book! I was surprised by the amount of magic in this book, and I had a really good time with it. Mariel and Oz were really cute except for that freaking third act breakup. That was literally the worst part of the book and completely unnecessary. Authors, be more imaginitive, please. I liked that there was more plot going on than just steamy romance. I thought there were a few loose ends and definitely some contradictory things that happened, especially at the very end of the book, but it's easy to ignore those. Fun read!

A cosy romance read! Nothing groundbreaking but because I was looking for something cute and fun it totally delivered. I read most of it in one sitting, just couldn’t put it down. It was spicier than expected.
Really enjoyed the dynamic between Mariel and Oz! But I’m generally a fan of the grumpy meets sunshine trope.

This book made me literally laugh out loud several times, which is an impressive feat! It was a fun spooky season romance, with a good amount of very hot spicy scenes. I'm not a big fan of the big-strong-man trope, so there were a couple of moments that weren't for me, but his physical size and strength were nicely balanced by her powerful magic. Speaking of her magic, I absolutely loved it. I was invested in the relationship but her power may have been my favorite thing about this book. I'm a big fan of women walking into the woods and embracing their power storylines (think "Uprooted" by Naomi Novik). One important content warning I want to give is for animal death. I will often walk away from a book with animal death, but I decided to keep going after it happened in this one, and I'm glad to say it didn't happen again. More on the animal death content warning here: It happens near the beginning to the chicken. It was much more gross than I would have liked, but I did like that the characters took it seriously and were sad about it even though it was a bit light-handed.

This was a super fun, witchy, cute love story. It sets the scene for Glimmer Falls well and other stories that may happen there. There’s drama, witty quips, sex, and lots to learn about the magic world. Will I immediately start the book over and read it in 3 days again? Probably not. Will I pick it up next year for a light hearted Halloween-y read? Yup.
