Content warnings for sexism, child neglect, and the death of a mouse.
A young girl, smart and good, one of four sisters and a single brother, takes it upon herself to do what what she can do to help fix the problems of her troubled family. After all, that's what good girls do, right?
Listening to this while I ran errands had been a good idea as it was easy to keep up with, however left me hollow inside as it hit the ending. There's so much to be said about this 20 page e-book and at the same time, so hard to put into words how effective it was for such short of time we spent with our main character.

A social commentary on Asian partiarchal societies
Plot: Through the eyes of the eldest daughter of the family, we're introduced to the culture, tradition, and values of a patriarchal Korean family in which a son was finally born to save the family from poverty.
Likes: The upbringing within the family through the eyes of the eldest daughter gives us a unique and crucial perception for the development of this story. Even though I wasn't sure where it was going from the start, this was fully worth the read and the end of the story will surely stay in your mind for days if not forever.
Dislikes: None
Audience: Those interested in Asia cultures, effects of strongly patriarchal societies on the upbringing of girls.
Rating: This is a 5/5 star short story, great from the beginning to the end.

I can't believe this is based on a true story. It kind of ripped my heart out.

Haunting, with an ending I didn’t see coming but it could not have ended any differently.
