This book would be better named Do Something Other Than Work. Interesting historical perspectives on how much we work and overall very work-focused.

This book is my mantra for 2021 - it woke me up to the fact that we live in a culture in which we are not happy *being* and only satisfied when we’re *doing*. Our society is obsessed with work. We heavily measure success solely based off of job title and how busy a person is. We trade our time for money, measuring it in terms of efficiency instead of meaning. Each chapter had me assessing my own life and prompted me to make immediate changes to reclaim my time and ultimately reclaim my humanity.

I think Celeste Headlee has
some sort of cupcake trauma…

I found this interesting and useful on an individual level. There’s not any mention of how to make meaningful change on the culture or politics around work which I found disappointing.

I was definitely enjoying it while I was reading and finding it interesting but one day later and I can't remember anything about it lol
