Good Enemies to Lovers read. I wish Cameron was more alpha, but otherwise, I appreciated the alpha female in Maeve!

"I hate how I'd burn the fucking world down just for one of your smiles."
Harold Thompson still demands to have a McGowan bride to end the war between the two families and Maeve is the only option. This time, Harold is taking no chances of a runaway bride and he leaves Maeve’s brother’s fate hanging in the balance until she walks down the aisle. Fortunately, Harold sees that she is too young to marry him and forces his son Cameron to wed her. Is Cam really the enemy Maeve believes him to be? Can she get her revenge?
Holy freaking smokes. I loved this book more than the first just for the story line. That plot had me on the edge of my seat. This book did have a little less spice as it wasn’t as k!nky as book one but I felt like the plot was more climactic. I was hooked into the storyline and not just the romance and smut. I adored Cam so much. My heart broke for the childhood he and his sister Katie experienced together. Cam is a strong and broody man but has a soft side for Maeve. I love a MMC that has a secret soft side for his woman. Now Maeve, what a bada$$ FMC! I love the way Cam helped her come out of her shell and encouraged her to be his “queen”. The way Maeve steps up in this book gave me ultimate “nobody puts baby in a corner” vibes!
This is book 2 in the McGowan Mafia series. It can be read as a standalone however I highly recommend reading the series in order to get the full impact of the plot. Please check trigger warnings!!

The misogynistic take on women's role even in the underworld is interesting. Characters were okay but wished Cam would have done the whole "taking out my disgusting dad" bit.
Also, my gosh why the FMC had to be like forced upon twice in this story? I felt like it was a bit much.

I was so excited to read Dark Enemies and I wasn't disappointed. An enemies to lovers, rival mafia, forced proximity romance! Them tropes pulled me right in. Maeve's and Cameron's story didn't keep me waiting for long the spice was amazing. I highly recommend this series so far. I can't wait to read Dark Obsessions.
This is the second book in the McGowan Mafia Series. Although this one is considered a standalone, I really believe I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first book. There are several things that were referenced from the first book which was about Maeve’s sister. In this book Maeve and Cam are enemies. Their families hate each other from things that had occurred 20+ years ago. Harold Cam’s father demands that Maeve marry his son Cam so that they can be some union between the families. In order to get Maeve to comply they kidnap and hold her favorite brother Mac a hostage. Now neither Maeve or Cam want to marry each other but they have no other options. Now during their honeymoon when they are on an island in the Caribbean all alone feelings begin to stir. As these two get closer and fall in love they decide to try to get rid of the major threat to both their families. This was an interesting book. I enjoyed it but, I definitely intend to go back and read the first book.
This was a perfect enemies to lovers mafia romance. You don’t have to have read the first book in the series to enjoy this one as it is technically a standalone, but it would be helpful if you did to get more background about the families feud. Loved it!
