I love Ellen Hopkins. This, however, is not my favorite work of hers. Still good, don't get me wrong! However when I picked it up, I was not expecting such graphic sex scenes (move over 50 Shades...)

I remember reading some of her books when I was younger, which I may reread. I love the way she tells a story thru verse/poetry. It’s such a unique way of writing. This story had 3 main characters and it takes you thru a summer about their marriages/relationships and parenting. The characters are in their late 30s to 40s. I enjoyed everyone’s story in their own different ways. I found each character and their relationship to be very realistic.

WOW!! My first book by Hopkins, but certainly not my last. The narrators in the audio version were excellent! I cried a lot, but I laughed even more! Hilarious, honest, and heartwarming (and a little risque ;)

This type, story line,of book is not my usual cup of tea but at this point in my life thought lets give it a read. So far so good. Not the greatest by no means but keeping my interest peaked. And like Identical, can't wait to get further into it and find out the ending. Her endings are usually always quite interesting and good.
I have now finished and still rate it a 3. Held my interest and some chapters better than others but not a very exciting ending as most of her books do have. So I was a little disappointed in that. But worth the read.

this was the last book i read with my dog (yes, i read to my dog.) so, on a nostalgic scale it’s a 10/10.
i read all ellen hopkins books in high school, so this was a blast from the past. the writing and poetry of it all is still just as good, but it definitely fits in the YA genre. it makes me want to go back and read the book the corresponds with it. totally disliked andrea by the end

This book was surprising. Although it was written in verse, and I probably would have guessed it was by Ellen Hopkins had I not already known, it was not her usual story line. These characters didn't have EVERYTHING that was bad that could happen be thrown at them, and most of the time they made the choices completely clear minded knowing exactly what they were getting themselves into. This book made me laugh, cry, it was sexy, and spicy. I really thorough enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone.

I personally feel that Hopkins writes a younger voice better than an adult voice. I enjoyed this book, but I like Tilt (the teenager's perspective) better as it was longer and some of the scenes were more descriptive.

I have never read any of Ellen Hopkin's adult novels so this was a new experience and I have to say it was thrilling! It's similar to her YA novels with the different p.o.v's and poem format. Quick. Cunning. Sharp. Sexy.
Some people have said that the sex and cheating bothered them, but it's a human thing and it doesn't come off as something gross or overdone. Ellen Hopkin is always real when it comes to her work.
The ending was left unanswered as it should. It wasn't exactly a happy ending, but there was room for hope. I like that about her stories. I had read Tilt a long time ago before I read this one so it was awesome seeing the different perspectives of the teens' parents' and what was going on with them. Whenever I read Ellen's YA books, it's one sided--completely just the view of the teen--and now I see both stories.
It reminds me of the word by Obscure Sorrows: Sonder (that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own).
I don't regret reading this book! Well done and lingered.

This book is why I love Ellen Hopkins. Her writing is honest and gritty. She writes in first person, present tense, multiple POVs. She writes in gorgeous verse that jumps off the page and takes on true meaning when read different ways. She's a seriously talented writer. She has a such an ability with words. I've loved all of her stuff, but this adult book took it to a whole different level.

This book is outstanding! It's real and in your face. It's easy to get lost in the lives of these three women. Every page is a new twist and turn. There are so many characters, so many lives at stake. Hopkins has a writing style that's all her own. While it takes obvious effort, she makes it look effortless. Each woman has her own back story and trouble to deal with. They blend and mix until your turning the pages so fast you can't keep them apart. It's raw and just so interesting. I read most of it in one morning. Great stuff.

It's exactly what I needed to read right now. Thank you, Ellen Hopkins.
