This was probably the best book that I've read from this author so far. I actually liked the movie adaptation better than the book, mostly because the development of the Stockholm syndrome seemed much less creepy in it. It was a decent beach read, even though the main female protagonist(s) were solely a vehicle for the main male protagonist to grow. There was little to no character development, but the plot was entertaining enough. Suffice it to say I think I've tried to read enough of these books by Alex Flinn, and even though I LOVE fairy tale adaptations, I'm done with this kind.

I loved the book and how the witch was apart of the beasts life than in most other verisons of this story.

It's not the greatest piece of literature nor does it have the most original idea, but if there's one thing this book can offer, it's enjoyment. It's a darling to read. Very light and happy. Cheesy every now and then, but it's the good kind of cheesy. It's an easy read with quotable quotes. I really enjoyed it.

It was a bit silly, Lindy asking for him to be ugly in the end was a bit weird... I get it but it was selfish

So like a year ago my friend said that I should look in to the book. it sounds really good.so then my mom see an add for the movie. I so I go to see a video for the movie. I love it. then I get the book. my mom loves it and so I read it.
and there are not words that I can think of to tell you how good this good is. the first 11 pages are hard to read. but after that you will want to put the book down. there is just some about it. it is like the book is Magic its self. when you read it you find your self in a hole new world. and the best part of the book is guys and girls will love it. yes. I gave to to a guy friend to read and he liked it a lot. so it is a good for almost ever one. which also makes it a great read. it is a book like Harry Potter. ever one will find some thing to like in it. but as the movie is coming out that means you all HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK NOW!! okay maybe not right. but do not see the movie with out reading the book. it rocks. it is not some silly fairy tale. it is a killer book! the book world will never be the same again. it is not going to be easy to read okay books after this one. it gives YA books a great name. this is a good I am going to buy. I want to have it in my home. it is that great of a book! it is one of my top 10 book of all time! so if you need a book like a great book here is the one. it is one all of your friends will like. this is a book I think you all should read for summer reading!

This was such a cute book. I've never actually seen Beauty and the Beast, believe it or not. But this was such a great twist on the original fairy tale. The character's were very interesting and the story, at least for me, even thought you KNOW what's going to happen, it was entertaining and riveting to read. I mean, the idea behind "The Beauty and the Beast" is sort of a weird idea anyways (can you say "stockholm syndrome"?) and I think the author really tried to make it... less creepy I guess? But the character development, especially of Kyle Kingsbury into Adrian, was really entertaining to watch and by the end you were really routing for him! And he and Lindy were just adorable, I was hoping they would end up together right from the beginning when he gave her the rose.
I guess I'll have to go watch Disney's movie and the movie of this book now!

To be honest, I was bored with the book at first. The character of Kyle pissed me off to the point I wanted to reach into the book and punch him in the face. I quickly realized that when one encounters this reaction to a book, one must keep reading. So I did, and I was not disappointed. Turns out this book is amazing and the ending brought tears to my eyes. Everyone could take a lesson from reading it, no matter how pure you think you are. I rated the book 4 out of 5 considering the slow beginning and honestly, the chat scenes could have easily been left out. They were cheesy and irrelevant. The most important thing about this book is, you need to read it. I promise you will be glad you did.

Updated re-telling of the classic The Beauty and the Beast story, but from Beast point of view. Surprized that an updated version continued some of the very 'traditional'ness with regards to gender. Some is part I'm sure is integral to the story, but not quite kosher now (or ever) and therefore even more curious to how they will treat this in the upcoming film adaptation. I found it a little challenging to have sympathy for a character that was so vain. But, overall quite a page turner and enjoyable read.

This book was ok, a re-telling of beauty and the beast aimed at teens. It is a very quick read and everything was neatly handled, I just didnt love it. It is certainly not a book that stays with you, I actually forgot I read it until I was cleaning some read books off of my e-reader this morning.
