This book was alright. Nothing special about it. Classic tale of "Beauty and the Beast" with a modern twist. Entertaining but nothing spectacular.
I read this book because I watched the film ages ago and now it has come up on my recommended on Netflix. I promised myself that I would read the book before I watch the film again. It was a very good fairy tale retelling and I look forward to reading more books in the series.
The main character is Kyle; a selfish and mean person at the start of the book who gets cursed by a witch after he humiliates her at a school dance. He get's transformed so that the ugliness that is inside is shown on the outside and finds that the only socialization he can handle is online. Until he finds a girl that needs help as her father is in trouble with some dangerous people, Kyle pretty much abducts her and forces her to live with him keeping her safe but also using her as a way to break the curse.
The most noteworthy secondary character is Lindy; the girl Kyle forces to live with him and who in the end falls in love with.
The storyline isn't the most original but it is a fairy tale retelling so it's pretty much just beauty and the beast with a twist. The pacing is good and I am looking forward to reading more books in the series and the other classic fairy tales that get retold.
3.5 stars a good book

This was a cute adaptation. The chat room excerpts are sadly dated already. The best part was Flynn's exploration of the Beast's family issues, i.e. How did he end up alone in the castle? She does a major fan service with the epilogue and really giving them the happily ever after tied with a bow.
This book is amazing. It was beautifully written and keeps you hooked to the very end. Similar to Beauty and Beast, this book is set to modern times. I loved it and hope the author comes out with more books of this kind.
This book is an enjoyable twist on a classic story. When you read this you should go into it with no expectations and no comparison to the classic Disney fairytale we all know. Besides that the author created an enjoyable experience as they took you along the story of love and forgiveness. If you have a free sunday on the couch, I highly recommend you read it.
Somewhat predictable but still very enjoyable reimagining of the Beauty & the Beast tale.
A "Beauty &The Beast" retelling
*The good*✔️
I loved how we really had a clear vue of how the "beast" was really created and also the touch of modernity in the book and how he's a 16 years old teenager from New-York just makes it a lot more better.
I love how the romance is so light and smooth in the book, i like how both parts of the couple learned to know each other from the inside and also how mature they are for their ages.
I really loved Will and wished we had more of him in the book he was really nice and so amazing as to how he helped our beast go throughout some dark places specially after he moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn.
*The bad*
I really kinda loved everything about this book expect one thing and that is Magda's character. I didn't want her to be Kendra. I really wanted to have a backstory for her and eventually when the spell is broken i wanted her to be the motherly figure in Adrian's life .
But other than that the book was truly amazing

One of those ‘retellings’ that’s all the hype these days, this one being about the Beast’s point of view in a modern Beauty and the Beast. It’s the first ‘retelling’ I’ve ever read.
And it was fascinating.
I’m always for other characters p.o.v’s, so this book easily found its way into my shopping basket and joined me in my journey home. I never expected to read it in a single day, but, hey, the world’s full of surprises.
The only problem I have with this cherished book was the way Kyle acted at the beginning. He was such a jerk and so unbelievably pompous that I almost threw the book across the room and left it there to rot. But I didn’t. I gritted my teeth and trekked on.
And it ended lovingly -- I cried out with joy, clutching the book to my chest in a hug. ;) I’m not going to tell you what went down. But, if you want to know (which you do~) you should pick up this book and give it a home on your shelves (and in your mind). You won’t be sorry.

In this urban fairytale, a re-telling of the [b:Beauty and the Beast|41424|Beauty A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast|Robin McKinley|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1169613617s/41424.jpg|2321285] fable, high school Sophomore Kyle is handsome, rich, and not a very nice guy. When he plays a prank on a young girl who turns out to be a witch, she turns him into a Beast and gives him two years to find a girl to love and be loved by in return. If he doesn't, he'll be a Beast for the rest of his life. This is a beautiful story of transformation and personal redemption as Kyle begins to see the kind of person he was, someone who lived on the surface of life, and and begins to discover who he is inside. Highly recommended for anyone who loves fairy tales, urban fantasies, and romance.
I Really Loved This Version Of "Beauty And The Beast." The Modern Touch To It Makes It A Little More Intruiging Than Other Versions, Especially Since It's Told Through The Beast's Eyes Instead. I Really Loved The Characters- Kyle (Adrain), Kendra, And Lindy. Kyle Really Does Morph From A Beast To A Beautiful Young Man By The End Of The Book. Kendra Really Is A Nasty Witch Who Becomes A Beautiful Enchantress And Curses Kyle Changing Him Into A Beast. And Lindy Is Just A Normal Girl Who Is Romantically Beautiful On The Inside And Out As Can Be (Straight Down To Her Jane Eyre T-Shirt..) The Life Of The Party (As I Call Him) Will Is Kyle/Adrian's Funny Witty Blind School Tutor. The Beginning Of The Book Is Told Through Kyle (The Young Beastly Full Of Himself Man) And The Second Half Is Told Through Adrian (Once Kyle Becomes The Beast He Changes His Name To Adrian) The Beast Really Transforms And Becomes A Prince Underneath. I Really Couldn't Stand Kyle But It Was Super Easy To Fall In Love With The Beast Once He Became Adrian. He Really Tugged At My Heart Strings By The End Of This Book.
