What I liked about this book was how it tried to bring attention to lesser known women in history. I found reading about women of diverse ethnicity and age very interesting. I hadn't heard about most of them. As a visual person I also really love the cover and the illustration of each women.
However 50 women in 300 pages might have been a bit too ambitious. Most chapters seemed like a very skimmed over look at someones live. Even though I found the concept of solving modern every day problems through the lens of important women of history intriguing , the chapters wastes a lot of words with cringy "relatable" humour.

Now let me just say first off that there were so many fantastic things about this book, including its diversity and inclusion and readability, but I gave it 3 stars because I did have a couple of issues.
At the beginning, I really enjoyed the tone of voice, but about halfway through it started to grate on me. Also, they assume a fair amount of times that you understand some of the abbreviations they use and don’t actually explain them anywhere (thanks Google).
My other criticism is only that I’ve read better feminist non-fiction books and the histories of these women were kept very brief. I think potentially 30 women instead of 50 would have been better with the same length book.
That being said, it was very easy to pick up and read anytime. I like the way they linked women of old to our experience in the modern day and I’m sure there are so many people out there who would love this book.

It was ok. Very brief summaries of inspiring women and how we can translate their achievements into Morden everyday problems . It’s good as coffee table book because of the snappy, short focuses on different women.

This was a fun read, although it felt a bit more like reading a long Buzzfeed listicle than a book. The authors have chosen fifty women from history, some extremely famous, some notorious, some little-known, and given us a little snippet into how we can apply their qualities to our every day life. Some are more contrived than others, and it would have been nice to hear a bit more about the women themselves, but it was a fun, light-hearted read with some interesting facts about some little-known historical figures.

This was an interesting and enjoyable read. It was lighthearted, silly, and whimsical, but for all that it had a lot of really interesting information about 50 incredible women, some well known, others lost to history. Some of the "life lessons" were a bit of a stretch, but I don't feel like they laboured the point too hard. Each chapter featured a short, chirpy, interesting biography of the woman and ended with a brief paragraph on how modern women can learn from the lessons of the past. I also appreciate that it didn't gloss over some of the nastier parts of the past - many of these women did things that were terrible as well as brilliant, and the chapters acknowledge this, that women could be pioneers but also racist, or homophobic or whatever else in other parts of their lives.
Overall this was a fun little book and I got to learn about some interesting and wonderful women throughout history.
