Didn’t enjoy the book as much I thought I would. It was an insta love, and I didn’t understand how the 2 protagonist could make their relationship work.

For Sean, the attraction is instant because ... reasons
Sean is driving a cab part-time while he finishes school. His latest passenger, heartbroken from a recent breakup, asks Sean to "Just Drive".
Before the night is over those words have lit sparks in both of their lives.
But it has to be a one-night stand right? After all, Paul hasn't been in school for a very long time.
There's a 20 year age gap, but those sparks seem to have lit a fire that neither of them can stay away from. If that were the only issue, they could make a go of it. But there's a much bigger issue.
...I did not anticipate that!...
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this love story. It brought back memories of another time. A time that young people today are not familiar with. The generation gap has never seemed so huge.
It also clued me in on military life and what dependents are and live through. There was a poignant scene between Sean and his Dad which literally brought me to tears.
Overall, I felt quite emotional reading this one. I fought off tears several times. Maybe it's never too late. And maybe the right decision isn't always the most obvious one.

Note to self - don't check out passengers if you haven't gotten laid recently.

This kid doesn't remember presidents you voted for.

It took me four and a half goddamned decades to find you, and you'd better believe you were worth the wait.

This was an intriguing May/December romance. The age, job, and internal conflicts were repeated too often but not horribly so, and it ends really well. The title is perfect. I'm happy I read it and I wish the second in this series lived up to this one.

Age-gap romance where one of the MMC’s is the other MMC’s father’s commanding officer.
From hookup to boyfriend, all in secret because of the Navy’s policies and procedures. Sean is so anti-Navy it really frustrated me, because he was arguing about making adult choices but behaving like a teenager. I understand teens being resentful of decisions made on their behalf and not having choice, but this guy? It was kind of painful, and there was really little of the storyline about him actually doing anything to have it any other way. I mean, he was a student and ‘studied’ but we never saw any growth in that area, so his character continued to seem juvenile and whiney.
I picked this book up through Stuff Your Kindle Day (always appreciate authors making their books available).

Enjoyable read! Interesting take on the Military trope and I enjoyed the characters a lot.
I will say that Paul's character didn't really read much like a military officer in his mid-forties. I know there are all kinds of people, but honestly it sort of felt like the author wrote two dudes in their mid=twenties, then just added twenty years to one of them and gave them a few older references (Like the AIDS crisis) to ~sell~ it. It didn't ruin the book for me at all, but yeah, didn't really feel like a twenty year age difference.
The ending was sweet though, if a little *too* neat.
I will say that I really liked that the younger character topped, and that he didn't like bottom just because he didn't like it, and he wasn't cured by Paul's magical dick. I feel like all these stories either have switching, they fuck one way but it conforms closely with mild D/s type dynamics, or suddenly the guy who never liked bottoming suddenly does because it's ~true love~. Some people just don't like certain sexual acts for no reason that they just don't enjoy it, and I really liked seeing that here.

Thank God for this book! Just what I need!
Not a complete 5 stars because I feel like the book has the potential to be even better but definitely one of my favourites! You can't go wrong with military stories (^^)
