From Abigail Adams and Elsa Schiaparelli, to Maya Angelou and Madonna...Sojourner Truth. Helen Brown. Joan Jett. SO MANY INSPIRING LADIES.
This was a great read with short blips on famous women throughout history. There were so many fascinating stories in here that led me to look up more information on some of these women. More of these women should be in our history books, and it was great to learn more about their stories.
As other reviews say- very white, Western, and entertainment focused, and glossed over some histories in problematic ways. It looks nice on a shelf and did introduce me to a number of new historical figures who I looked up on my own.
Subtitled “100Remarkablr Women Who Changed the World,” I do have to say some of the women listed may have fit into the “bad girls” category but not so much the world changing part. However, most of the women explored are inspirations and I enjoyed getting to know more about them. Although written in short snippets, the author managed to work in wit and a sense of admiration for each subject. The artwork throughout is amazing as well! Definitely worth the read.
I liked it, and understand you have to make choices, but it is super white-centric as many other reviewers have noted. Fun and quick to read.
I love this book so much. It has kept me company for a long time, as I just read snippets here and there. Ann Shen is a beautiful artist, and her research is just as impressive to this librarian reader. I learned so many new things about these fabulous women!
A compendium of women who changed history. Great illustrations. Very readable.
As a history student myself I absolutely loved this. I also loved learning about women whose name that I’ve heard but didn’t fully know
