I honestly just picked up the book for its unique title, but I did not expect that I would like it this much.
The main character is a 14-year-old girl, and for the most part, she sounds like her age. She does not act like those characters in books where they are young but sound like in their 30s. I truly rooted for her and wished her all the best.
I also like that there is a struggle while preparing for the war. It wasn’t at all like a Mary Sue moment where Mona would instantly win just because she had magic. No, she had to learn and be creative, all while doubting herself but also pushing herself because of these doubts.
Overall, this book is a great read. I put it off for a while because I had to attend my driving lessons, but when I finished my lessons, I immediately picked up where I left off and finished this book immediately. It’s that good!

This book is just as delightfully bonkers as the premise demands (14 year old girl is a wizard whose magic only works on dough! She has a gingerbread man familiar! She accidentally turned her aunt's sourdough starter into a carnivorous pet when she pushed too much magic into it! And this is just where the story starts...). Amazing, give this to every tween you know.
