I loved Die Trying! I'd definitely say that it's one of my favorites I've read so far. The plot and villain were intriguing, though it naturally lent itself to a bit of a slower plot. I found that I didn't mind that so much, though. I also enjoyed that this book introduced us some key pieces of the Reacher backstory that Killing Floor didn't have the time to really get into. This is definitely one of the Reacher books I'm most looking forward to rereading at some point.

I finished Killing Floor without a very high opinion of Jack Reacher or Lee Child. Reacher's a dick and the story was fine. Interesting twist, but not much more. I decided to give Die Trying a chance. It's much better. The story is tighter, and the third person limited POV makes it a much more intense and interesting read, as it allows for more perspectives on what is happening in the story.

Reacher is still a dick, but he's much less of one in Die Trying. Hell, he might even be a nice person in a few books.

Die Trying is a little 'on the nose' with a homegrown militia group kidnapping a woman off the street to use as leverage in their little plot. Bringing Jack Reacher along was an oversight. An accident. One that will come back to bite them in the ass.
