Just about any book that makes me cry gets five stars. What a way to go out. These were tough because they’re so raw and it’s so easy to imagine the trauma that these kids are enduring. To know that the things they went through aren’t thing that can be recovered from. That’s a damn good book to me

Cheers, Michael Grant, to this crisp, beautifully written series. My emotions are all over the place and although I haven't waited for years for those books like some of the other readers here, I feel like I've gone through a hell of a roller coaster of emotions. This series made me laugh, caused tears to well up in my eyes, and made me smile so wide it physically hurt. In addition to that, it also made me want to smash my tablet into smithereens and yell angrily (which has happened).
The title of this conclusion is perfect. Light. As with the other books in the series, you can extract so many meanings from that title. Gone. Hunger. Lies. Plague. Fear. Light. There are literal meanings for the titles, of course, but there are also figurative hidden meanings. In Light, there was a lot of character development and tied loose strings sprinkled with a theme of redemption, confession, and atonement.
I really liked the ending of this book because it wasn't all ride-into-the-sunset-carrying-daisies and, yes, it has a happy ending, but Sam still has issues with his mother, and Astrid (probably) still feels slightly guilty about Little Pete. So I greatly appreciate that. Overall, this was an enthralling piece of work that I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys an electrifying story with engaging characters and an enchanting plot.

SPOILER ALERT!
The ending was terribly boring.
I remember wishing this book simply stopped after they got out because the ending was so lame. The book would have been a lot better with an open ending

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I´M CRYING
WHAT THE HELL WAS THINKING MICHAEL GRANT?
*SPOILER ALERT*
3 of my favourite characters died, It´s not fair.
- First of all and the most painfull: Brianna, SHE IS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER AND WHEN SHE DIED I FEEL BAD SAD AND WITHOUT ENERGY. I was crying in the bus and telling to myself that it couldn´t be real
- Secondly: Caine, he and Diana were OTP, and I love him because he is the antihero and he is so cute, I COULDNT BREATHE WHEN HE DIED
- Thirdly: Jack, It wasnt an important character that usually the people like but.. I LOVED HIM HE WAS SO CUTE AND I WANTED TO HUG HIM ALL THE TIME
Now, WHY HAD ASTRID SURVIVED? REALLY? she should die, not Brianna or Caine
but okay, now I feel better, and even the death I really enjoy and love the book
so.. 5/5 and 9/10

A nice conclusion to the series, though I have a few issues with it. I find the numbers of how many died and how many survived hard to believe, and that's only based on this novel. Furthermore, the only reason Diana could escape is because the author (conveniently) forgot about Toto. A shame, because the author really gave the idea he knew what he wanted to do. Still 4 stars though.

I loved this book so much, and really can't believe that the series is over! After reading book toe, I almost gave up on the series, but so glad I didn't , because for me, it came round full circle!
It desperately needs to be made into a movie or tv series
