While the writing was good in Original Sin, the story didn't always make a lot of sense, and especially Luc should have been able to understand many things long before he did - which was when it was actually too late.

**********SPOILER ALERT**********

After I finished reading Personal Demons last year, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Original Sin so I could find out what happens next. I had highly enjoyed the first book and Original Sin definitely did not disappoint.

Frannie's soul may now be tagged for Heaven but that still doesn't seem to be stopping all these demons from showing up in town and coming after Luc. Because Hell wants Luc back...except, thanks to Frannie's Sway, he's now human. And what's even better, Gabe has tagged his soul for Heaven. Just when things were starting to go well with Luc and Frannie strange things start happening in town, some demonic in nature, some not so much. Plus, there's Frannie's new guardian angel doesn't seem big on the idea of Luc and Frannie being together. And just when they all need Gabe's help the most, Gabe goes away, finding it more and more difficult to resist Frannie and her Sway. Not that he's trying so hard to resist her. Frannie will now have to fend for herself, especially when her guardian angel keeps getting distracted. But Hell is bringing all its got to the table and Frannie and Luc may be in more trouble than they thought.

Original Sin was nothing if not incredibly hot and sexy. Lisa Desrochers definitely knows how to write those steamy parts. But the book is so much more than just that. The story is incredibly well-written and those mini-cliffhangers at the end of the chapters only served to make me keep reading even when I knew I had to stop. Though what I love best about Original Sin were the alternating points of view. Lisa Desrochers definitely figured out how to make it so no matter who was speaking, I was never even close to bored. Basically, she did no wrong in this book, if you ask me.

Frannie was just as great as I remembered. She definitely doesn't let people walk all over her and that is one of the things I like best about her. But most importantly she wasn't the "damsel-in-distress" type and could actually defend herself when it came down to it. Even though Frannie seems to have chosen between Luc and Gabe, I still can't make my mind up. I loved seeing Luc as a human an reading his thoughts on the subject. Most of the time he just made me crack up or actually start laughing out loud. Once again, I wish I could have seen more of Gabe. But what I did have of him, I enjoyed a lot. What I particularly like is that he's always there for Frannie no matter what. That just made me like him that much more. An Matt was very interesting to say the least. I liked him at first but as the story moved forward I started to have my doubts about him. And with that ending, who knows what's going to happen next.

Original Sin was a most excellent sequel and if anything, it was even better than Personal Demons. Lisa Desrochers is an incredible writer and I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book in this series.

oooooohhhh, is this going to go back and forth between Frannie and Gabe this time?? That's what the cover makes it look like. Not that I don't absolutely love Luc, I just wanna learn more about Babe, oops, I mean Gabe ;)
adventurous dark emotional medium-paced

It was an entertaining book although in this one I couldn't quite connect with Farnnie as with the first one.

I thoroughly enjoyed Personal Demons, so of course I was interested in reading Original Sin. I was absolutely psyched when I won a signed copy of this during a twitter contest the author hosted. Unfortunately due to some life events, it took me forever to get the opportunity to read this. When I finally had the chance, however, I sat and read nearly the entire book in one sitting!

Frannie is an excellent character, and I always enjoy her narration. Once again the inclusion of Luc’s narration is also a huge plus. This book has a third narrator as well, which I am still rather undecided on. It had its benefits, but I did not always like his parts. Gabe is too absent in this book for me to be entirely happy, but the parts he was in were excellent. I adore the characters of this story, especially the integral trio. Their storylines took a lot of twists in this book, which complicate and add to them.

This book is hot. Yes, definitely not for the younger YA readers. I thoroughly adore this story. The characters and the story are both just completely compelling. The last part of this book was just wow. Heartbreaking. Insane pace. Intense. Epic. I would continue, but I am sure you probably get the idea. My heart was in pieces by the last pages. Then, of course, it just left me hanging. Cruel.

Overall this book definitely lives up to the first one. It’s romantic, intriguing, and all around absorbing. Fans of the first book will be sure to like this one, and it definitely leaves you wishing for the third. I know I will, at least, be waiting with great impatience to see how this story will all play out.

Since reading PERSONAL DEMONS (the first book in the series) back in January, I was really looking forward to the sequel to find out what would happen next with Luc, Frannie, and Gabe. The thing I like most about these books is the way that Lisa Desrochers has built this world with heaven/hell dynamics, rules, and hierarchies and the intriguing characters she's put in these places. Along with that, she infuses sarcasm and humor through the various characters, language, and situations that leave me smiling to myself throughout the entire book. And she definitely knows how to write steamy romances. There is a bit of a love triangle continuing in this book, but Gabe is absent for most of the book, until something happens and Frannie needs him (but I can't tell you what it is-you'll have to read for yourself!).

This time the book is again told through three character's perspectives, but we get Frannie, Luc, and Matt's unique voices in this one. Matt is now Frannie's guardian angel, but since he's so new to the job, we aren't sure if he'll be able to handle it. A new character is introduced in this book, and if you've read any other stories with angels/fallen angels mythology, you may figure out who she really is before the character's in the book do. I actually liked Frannie better in this book than I did in the first one. She had more to do and grew on me. However, in my personal opinion, these books have always been about Luc. I feel it's actually about Luc's journey to find what he really wants after an existence without love or any concrete reason to keep going. He's the ultimate bad boy figure (hello - he's a demon!), who has found someone who is worth giving up his immortal being and turning human for in Frannie. Since that happened in the first book, he's trying to adjust in this book which leads to some entertaining scenes. But in this book again, like in the first, Luc's internal struggle is the part I responded to the most. Yes, there are bigger plot points going on, and yes, Matt's story is intriguing in this book, and yes, Frannie has things to deal with and figure out, but it all goes back to Luc for me.

Lisa writes page-turning books with emotion, entertainment, and action all within the constraints of an overarching storyline about Frannie and the heaven vs. hell battle that will guide the entire series. I'm definitely looking forward to the final book to find out where Luc and Frannie and Gabe all end up (and therefore, the worlds of heaven and hell) especially since the ending of ORIGINAL SIN was shocking and gave a twist that could be a major game-changer for the series - my jaw literally dropped at the end, so be prepared!

Spoilers ahead!

So, it took me a while to get through this one. Mostly, because I had so many Galleys to tend to, but also because the beginning was to slow for me. It didn't keep me in my seat, and that is the one and only reason I'm giving this book only four out of five stars.

I loved Frannie's guardian angel from the second he appeared, he just seemed so sweet and sincere! Well, I knew that couldn't last, but it was nice while it did. Frannie annoyed me at times, with her inability to stay put for more than two seconds, but it didn't make me hate her either. Luc was pretty damn amazing, I think he's a really believable character, stupid guy flaws included. And how gruesome was the scene in Hell where he's more or less ... you know, tortured?

So, Taylor. She's a pretty big part of this novel, and while I admit to not really liking her in the first book and this one, I can't say I'm happy for what happened to her. I probably wouldn't wish this and my worst enemy, and that's saying something because I really REALLY hate my worst enemy.

This book was full of surprises to me personally, because I didn't think it would go the way it did. Also, who wasn't surprised at Frannie's Dad? I did not see that coming at all, nicely played Mrs Desrochers!

I'm looking forward to the sequel, because I really want to know whether Luc and Frannie will get their happy ending, because they definitely deserve one. As does Gabe, even though I don't really like him either ... too bad.
