I fell in love with Luc and Frannie in book one in this series, Personal Demons. I could not wait to dive back into their lives with the second installment Original Sin. In Original Sin, once again hell is literally knocking on their door, and Frannie and Luc and not sure where to turn. It's one crazy twist and turn, and betrayal and heart break after another.

GENRE: Paranormal Romance
THEME: Angels and Demon

REVIEW:
Original Sin starts off right were Personal Demons left off. Everything is changing for Frannie and her life is going to get really complicated…especially when The Lucifer wants her.

I have to say I have a lot of mixed emotions about Original Sin, but not bad just frustrated with some characters and their decisions. Which only means I was getting attached and feeling what the characters are feeling, just shows how fantastic Desrochers writing is. She really knows how to make you feel for her characters with her words.

Frannie is still learning about her power of Sway, she can use it easily with both Gabe and Luc; it’s frustrating her and making her feel useless. Frannie, is tough, independent and really cares for everyone. But she made me want to pull out my hair sometimes with her decisions. So many people are trying to protect her but she just keeps on throwing herself in the fire. I understand why she does all this, her love for everyone is so deep that she feels she always needs to be there for them.

Matt, Frannies twin brother who passed away, was a great addition. He’s her guardian angel and a snarky young guy. I was pretty shocked with where the story went with him but I loved the twist. I wont say anymore on that ☺

Luc and Gabe oh how I love these boys, I feel for them both and I wish I could split Frannie in half so each could have someone. I’m not a fan of love triangles cause I know only one is going to be happy, but they are amazing! Gabe is his charming protective Angelic self and Luc is learning how it is to be human, but still has his hot dark attitude.

Original Sin had everything I love about paranormal stories, romance, angst, awesome powers, and a story that pulls your heart in five different ways. Personal Demons introduces you to Desrochers character but Original Sin pulls you into their lives and makes you feel as your living their lives with them. I highly recommend this story and enjoy the ride as much as I did.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a Young Adult Novel with minor adult situations. Fan of Lauren Kate’s Fallen Series and Andrea Cremer’s Nightshade series will love this book.

I'm always apprehensive before starting a book in this series. I psyche myself out by reading the reviews and having these, albeit inaccurate, preconceived notions before I even consider starting. Well, thank goodness I tend to ignore my own feelings of dread when it comes to reading books, because this was just as amazing as Personal Demons.

Authors like to write about these guys that we know can never exist in a world that hasn't been overrun with the paranormal, but we want so badly to exist. Lisa Desrochers is a pro at this. She has created not only one, but TWO boys that are completely and totally swoon-worthy... and have both messed up big time. The last book should be called Redemption because it seems every single character has something that they need to make up for.

If only Frannie knew how lucky she was to have Luc, that even after all the things he's done, he still loves her. She's his priority now that he's no longer a demon, and even when he was a demon in the first book, she became everything to him. The new addition of the character Lili changes everything. Everyone falls for her innocent charm (especially Matt, Frannie's twin brother who happens to be her guardian angel), but she turns out to be nothing like they thought.

There were some weird parts to this book, mostly involving sexual scenes, but don't let that deter you. If you've read the first one, then Original Sin isn't much different. Let's just say that succubi aren't particular when it comes to whether you're male or female. Obviously, this series is not for the younger YA audience.

This one really stressed me out. It has those moments where you almost want to rip your own heart out from the pain you're feeling from the other characters. It's one of those things where you don't want to read - shouldn't read - because you know it's going to hurt, but at the same time you can't stop. I can't help thinking how YA writers and readers alike are masochistic.

A great sequel to an awesome series. I cannot wait to read Last Rite!

Loved it to death

I feel that when I rate a book like this so poorly, I have to justify it. The only reason I read it in the first place was because I was bored, and there was a shelf of "free books" in my school's education department. Let's stop and savor that irony for a second: this book is terrible, both because of the characters and because of the cliches running rampant throughout the entire thing. And it was for free. In the education department.

Some young adult fiction is really, really good. Some is just...not, for lack of a kinder phrase. Original Sin falls into this category (as do the other two books in the series, or so I hear). If you're looking for fiction with powerful allegory and metaphor, of struggles between good and evil, and of anything resembling a decent ending (even if it's not happy), then don't read this book. Frannie is extremely reminiscent of Bella Swan, who is a terrible role model to begin with. The Luc-Frannie-Gabe love pentagon got old and annoying very quickly. The other love story (which I won't reveal for spoilery reasons) was predictable and served no point other than furthering the storyline.

Bottom line: reading this book cost me two hours I will never get back, but at least it wasn't Twilight. The grammar and spelling were at least decent. And if that's the best you can say, then you're not saying much.

There’s a lot more going on in this book and I liked it for the most part. I wish Frannie would just pick one guy already. I really hate love triangles. At this moment, I don't like Frannie's new guardian angel and I wanted to beat him by the end of the book. It will be interesting to see where the next book goes after that ending.

It was ok, not great. I probably will read the third book, or maybe not, i'm just not that excited about it.

While the writing was good in Original Sin, the story didn't always make a lot of sense, and especially Luc should have been able to understand many things long before he did - which was when it was actually too late.

This and all my other reviews are originally posted on my blog (un)Conventional Bookviews

This is hard to discuss without spoiling Personal Demons. But the general mythology behind this series is that Frannie is wanted by both Heaven and Hell, for reasons unknown. Luc is a demon and Gabe is an angel and they both want to secure (or "tag") her soul for their side. By this book, we know who Frannie chooses and we know why she's so valuable to both God and the devil. In this book, there are a bunch of huge twists that I cannot discuss. (Hurry and read these books!)

The best parts of these books are the characters. Yes, the plot is awesome, and yes, the love triangle is wonderful (I'm Team Luc!) but holy crap, the characters. It's impossible not to fall in love with both Gabe and Luc, and it's just as impossible not to love Frannie. A lot of times, it's hard to see why people immediately fall for the heroine in paranormal YA series, but in this one, I totally get it. Frannie is a total badass.

I am so sad that book three doesn't come out until MAY. I want to know what happens now! :(

Amazing. Simply amazing!
