I am not sure which translation the dreamscape audio-book that I listened to used but I feel it wasn't the best possible one and it somewhat impacted my enjoyment of this book, that being said its a pretty good piece of children's fantasy fiction based on said unknown translation I read but nowhere near in the same category of kids fantasy literature like the "OZ" books or "Alice in wonderland" , ETC!
It felt very episodic in a way that did not always gel together at times, can get a feel a bit too cutesy, and for sure is a story that feels like the kind of kids story that tells kids to eat their vegetables in not so subtle way! All that being said though I did enjoy reading it for the most part and it never really overstays it welcome and it was fun to read this for the first time after having watched Del Toro's film take on the material which I loved!
I feel like I should seek out a possible better English translation of this and give it a re-read in a couple of years!

2.5 stars. Pinocchio drives me nuts for most of the story. He's just not cute. It's an interesting book, but not great.
