This book is just friggin weird.

The whole thing is about how Pinocchio is a terrible terrible kid. Yet he’s never really punished and is always easily forgiven.

Also… the amount of times people try to kill him in stupid ways is astounding. Like, he’s a puppet made of wood, what the heck made you think hanging him would do anything?

I can see why this was popular with kids. As an adult… it was just not for me.

Fun, creative little story. Pinocchio himself is a bit annoying and characters come and go on a whim. Still, enjoyable.

This is the first time I read the original story. I must have read the Disney version a billion times as a kid. I have also seen the Disney movie a million times. Pinocchio was my most favorite Disney character as a small kid. For some reason, I was fascinated with this story. Reading this story again made me nostalgic.
I thought of reading the original story which I heard was more violent. I really liked this version too. Pinocchio is just a stubborn disobedient kid, just like all kids are. Kids never listen to parents and then end up in trouble. The moral of the story is great.

I loved this edition as it had amazing illustrations. I also heard that this is the best translated edition - this one is by Roberto Innocenti.
I will definitely read this story to my son once he is old enough to understand.

This was a terrible, weird book. A pitiful attempt to get kids to behave. Cats are biting off their own paws to feed to someone so he doesn't go hungry.

Also, the boy Pinocchio is a punk and a brat.

So how come Pinocchio can go hungry but yet can't feel pain when he is able to burn his feet off and not even wake up from that?

I did not like the chapter titles. What is the point of telling you how the chapter is going to end.
