I absolutely loved this book! Some of my favorites are written from multiple POVs just like this one, and I feel like I get a chance to connect to the characters and story even more.

Jules and Jason are our first foray into this authors world and the suspense was killing me in certain pets of this book! Will he go to prison, will Jules be able to save him from that fate?!

And the epilogue.....made the whole book even better!

Please say we get Noras story next!!!

This was a bookstagram made me do it read, and I was no disappointed. Greer did such a good job with Jules’ personality and inner dialogue that I was immediately pulled in wanting to know more about her and what answers the past has regarding her and Jason.

Jason’s inner dialogue and POV was the cherry on top of an already decadently delicious cake. The back and forth of these two was a delight to be witness too!

The intrigue and mystery made it ver difficult to put this book down and return to reality. The world building was done so well that I was fuller immersed in this book feeing like I was right there next to the team trying to figure out the ins and outs of the underbelly of a deceptively charming town.

Though this books gives us some what of a conclusion to Jason and Jules, the story continues much to my delight with the dream team as they continue to work to unveil the puppet master behind the events disrupting Jason, Jules and the teams lives.

I went into this book blindly, never having read a Greer Rivers book before and honestly had no expectations about her writing. But lord help me this book blew me away!

From the very first page I was wrapped up in the bad ass Jules as she navigated the judicial system with her first love Jason as her new client. You'll be turning page after page through suspense, murder, romance and those 18+ scenes as you try and figure out who is trying to frame Jason for his missing sister. All while

Buckle up my fellow Bad Ass Bitches, this is going to be a fun ride!

Interesting

I found my way to this book from a FB group talking about book 2. It seemed really interesting and was intrigued. I decided to give a new to me author a chance. I liked the story.

Trigger Warnings include:
human trafficking, physical & sexual violence

This was a ride! If you’re into true crime, or something like Criminal Minds, but still want some spice on the side, this is the way to go! Think mafia romance, without the mafia. There’s definitely steam! But there’s a heavy focus on the suspense. The title is very on point; Jason is trying to escape conviction, and his ex is going to help him do it! This was fighting for the ones you love to the extreme! The love in this book knew no bounds! There’s lots of drama and it’s not lacking plot twists either! I was genuinely surprised when things started happening and making sense so early on, until things truly started to happen. Everything is connected, everything is chaos, everything hurts! It’s always nice to read a book, and not be able to compare it to anything else you’ve previously read.

My Favorite Quotes:
•”Baby, if you purr when I pet you, I ain’t gonna stop.”
•”I’m not letting you go after this.”
•”I’ll do everything in my power to heal you, to comfort you, to love you.”
•”Your first. Your last. Your only, baby.”
•”I don’t want to be a me without you.”

I finished the book but wouldn't recommend it. There was just too much going on for this story to work for me. It was just one dramatic thing after another with too many connections to be realistic.

A few things bothered me a lot.

1. The male lead's kid sister is kidnapped into a sex trafficking ring and the couple is far too obsessed with their relationship while it's going on that it's not believable. The author tries to cover it up with chapters of their guilt but it's just too much.

2. The female lead is just too fake. It's too much for all the men to be so obsessed with her. For her to be so good at her job. Etc. Etc.

3. This elite team sucks at their job. One guy gets shot taking on two Russian mobsters that he should have known he needed to take care of. The team should have been told what was going on. And yet? He gets shot and ends up in a coma with ANOTHER character getting kidnapped. Then they only take 3 men into a rescue like that's enough for the job. It's not and it's absurd that the author thinks that only 5 pairs of boots on the ground (one died before the book starts and one was in a coma) was reaching women from sex trafficking organizations. The team was seven total, one being a pilot and one a techie that couldn't figure out what "smart device" might have called 911.

4. Too many coincidences and too much shit that was illogical so the plot "worked."
