I went in this book expecting a low rating, but ended up with a better rating. The storyline is quite interesting and sucked me in. This was a book that I flew through. The writing is easy to read and the author does a great job reminding the readers the important things that happened in the previous books. It is wild how the different stories interconnected. It was nice to see this friend group be reunited back together. The ending of this book definitely makes me interested in how the series is going to go from here. I will definitely be picking up the next book at some point. The characters are difficult at times and I got frustrated with them multiple times in the previous books. This one was a little better, and there was character development for most of the characters. This book was easy to read and could be good in getting out of a reading slump.

I got this book on Kindle without realizing that the first four PLL books had been modernized and rewritten/reprinted in 2022 (I read the original paperbacks of the first three). So while this was still a great read, I was disappointed by the modernization and kept getting thrown off by the obviously changed words. I hated it. Who wants to read a classic 2000’s book, expecting Y2K nostalgia, only to be bombarded with 2020 references like “TikTok“ (the app, not the song), “We Dont Talk About Bruno”, Brandy Melville, air pods, iPads, iPhones, Instagram, Emily in Paris, even “Beauty Tikok fights”, Zendaya, Kamala Harris, Lil Nas X, Post Malone, and ELON MUSK. But ironically, Justin Timberlake was mentioned WAY too many times for it to feel relevant to today. Also Mona drives a yellow Hummer. I wish Sara had not done this. It feels so inauthentic to the series and the first fans of the series. I don’t want to be reminded of this time; I want to escape from it. And now I will have to find and buy an older print to see how it was originally written. STOP ERASING THE ANCIENT TEXTS. THIS IS HISTORY.
That all being said, the ending was fucking iconic.

They made me. 5 stars. Really good. I'm impressed with this. I really liked the twists in this one cause I didn't see them coming(well. I had my guesses. But also my doubts). And A. Yup. She was best in this one. Can't wait to read more of these! So great!
